Extracting files from burned DVD

Hello Folks,

Does Movie 15 have the ability to extract all of the original files and allow the user to re-edit and than burn again?  Here is my scenario.  I made a DVD usig movie 15 for our church.  The pastor has been replaced and a new pastor needs to be added.  Can I take the original DVD and open it in a way that it can be edited just like it had never been burned?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Kyle,

In this case it doesn't matter much, as the answer is essentially the same with all versions of MEP. But there's no such Magix product as 'Movie 15'. Do you have the years old Movie Edit Pro 15, or perhaps the very latest Movie Edit Pro 2015 (seven versions later)?

Taking your question exactly as stated, "Can I take the original DVD and open it in a way that it can be edited just like it had never been burned?" the answer is No.

I'm assuming you don't still have the project from which you burned the DVD? Not even as part of your regular precautionary data backups? If you do, then of course you can simply re-open the project and do the monor editing.

I'm also assuming you did not backup the project and all its associated files using File > Backup > Copy project and media into a folder?

However, if neither of those approaches are available, you can still make relatively light work of the task. You need to import the VOB files into MEP and work from there. You should find them in the folder to which MEP wrote them when it prepared to burn the disc.

They are also of course on the DVD itself.

Come back if you need more advice.
