Fails to load saved work correctly

ptpenfold wrote on 1/10/2014, 4:14 AM

Hi.

I'm having issues with Magic Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium (13.0.2.8). I have downloaded all upgrades.

After saving edited projects and then closing down program and computer I then find on restart that Magic loads the previously saved project without any sound and with all sections over exposed. In some cases images that had been deleted are superimposed with other images.  Despite the frame table being buit on first use of a video file the system goes through the whole thing again on restart.

Any ideas please as I'm loosing hours of work each time. At the moment the only way around it is to render short sections into a movie and then load that up for further editing but of course that does not allow me to make easy changes to the original saved projects.

Many thanks. Pete Penfold. Somerset, England.

I'm using Windows 7 professional on a  Intel core i7 CPU 920 processor with a 64-bit operating system

Hi

Sounds like the project datafile is corrupted.

MEP is set by default to save backups every 10 mins so look in the folder where the project is stored for _BAKn.MV_ files where n = a number starting from 1 and try reloading these using File, Load backup project until you get a good project then save it with a different name.

If you are importing HD video to the timeline then make sure you have the Create frametable on import option in the program settings turned off - it is only needed when importing mpg files and the audio is out of sync.

Hi John. Thanks for the reply.

Firstly I'm working on a wedding video that is likely to be around 2 hours in total so I'm reluctant to make any changes that might give me further issues. This problem has been happening at various stages and not only on the one project file. Thanks for the tip though, I will check that out.

The file format that I'm importing into the editor is Mpg 2 full HD captured from my Cano HD 30 and 40 camcorders so are you still suggesting I should deselect the Create framestable option?

Regards. Pete

Hi Pete

If you are importing from the cameras as mpg 2 HD then leave the option on.  It is if you are importing to mp4, AVCHD etc that you do not need the frameable option.

Cheers

John

Thanks again John.

On further investigation it seems to happen when I use track 2 to add further material as well as when I drag a clip to shorten it rather than cutting and deleting. If it is dragged then the dragged section is getting superimposed under the rest of the clip.

Anyone else having similar problems please?

Regards. Pete

Hi Pete

I presume the projects have not been created in an earlier version of MEP?

I would start a new project with footage that you have not used before in any project and before importing to the timeline I would deselect the "create frametable"  option in "program settings"(nor apply from Rt. click) , then go from there.

You say you are putting video on track 2 so I assume you have the option "Show audio and video on one track" selected in program settings? If so select Audio and Video on separate tracks and add your additional material to track 3. This is a long shot - because track 2 is normally reserved for the audio.
