Frustated once again. Hours of work lost.

Ted-Wilby wrote on 7/10/2022, 11:11 AM

And so... I spent a couple of hours yesterday trimming a music video and adding chapters and chapter titles and now this morning the titles are all gone. This is why I originally got frustrated with this version of Magix Movie Edit Pro 2022 Premium and removed it from my Z840. After reinstalling it and talking to this forum, I was hoping it was me doing something wrong and not the software. I give up. I guess i just have to consider I've wasted my money on Magix Movie Edit Pro 2022 Premium and can't get it back. I was very happy with Magix Movie Edit Pro MX. I think they've removed a lot of what I liked about it and dumbed it down and are not addressing the bugs in good time.

Greetings @Ted-Wilby

I absolutely agree that they (Magix) "are not addressing the bugs in good time". There are some bugs that haven't been addressed in the past 2 releases - possibly longer.

However starting a new post to say this when you've already posted this in your previous post (that's a bit wordy, sorry) is no way to get any sympathy from anyone, least of all the Moderators that look after this lot.

@Ted-Wilby

Hi Ted.

As far as losing titling is concerned, I can't replicate that and I have just finished a project with over a hundred subtitles in it, working and saving the project for over two weeks.

I think the problem in this instance is MEP 2022 needs to be able to have full use of Direct X11.1 at least and your hardware can't use Direct X 11.1 fully. MEP MX was using Direct X 9.0c. As such it will not be recongnised by the developers as a bug but a compatibility issue.

I do agree bugs are not being fixed that did not exist in previous versions but I don't think this is one of them.

@CubeAce

Hi Ray,

@Ted-Wilby is talking about Chapters and Chapter Titles for making a DVD/BR, not titles. There is a big difference.

@Ted-Wilby did you try opening one of the backup files to see if the Chapters and Chapter Titles are there?

Yes I checked the backup and also anything that seemed similar to the file names. The chapters were there but the titles were all gone. Earlier all my edits from the previous days were gone from a previous project. I removed the program and reinstalled it and this was the first project since then. In the mean time, the other MTS and MKV files and the 1080 MP4s I converted them to would not play, yet they work in the older version of Edit Pro MX on the old machine.At this point I don't care what you think of me personally. I'm the one with the editing problems..

I feel you Ted, Magix Movie Edit Pro 2022 is really bad suck big time and has not remedy, no forum gonna solve any issue about this 2022 version because is bad to the core, I even tried out MAGIX Video Pro X14, is the same program but with more features and behave the same ways a lot of freezing and mask that don't mask, problems with text features.

Hi

Please continue the playback issue in your previous topic on codecs and keep this topic for the disappearing 'titles' issue to avoid splitting of replies.

Can you clarify:

. . . . The chapters were there but the titles were all gone . . . .

Are you referring to:

  1. Title objects on the timeline disappearing?

  2. Chapter marker 'titles' disappearing, if so where from - timeline or in the Disc Menu editor?

I have an issue with one project when adding chapter markers, they do not appear in the disc menu, saving the project with a different name or adding a version number, and reloading this it fixed this issue

No, at least not THIS time.

Timeline

I started a second thread because I thought it was a separate issue.

I don't have any more time to mess around with Magix. I started all this back in Nov 2021. I need to find software that works without a lot of questions. I'll use my old Lonovo ThinkCentre i7 running Win 7 and Magix Edit Pro MX until I get a chance to load Avid or DaVinci Resolve on this Z840. Yesterday I removed the Magix software for a second time and reinstalled Windows 10 clean so I know there aren't any weird leftover files. From this point on all this Magix incompatibility is a none issue for me.

If I seem a little testy, it's because I feel ripped off. I'm not rich. You won't hear anyone say, " Tell The Fiddler to Move his Tesla '' I tried Magix because I use and like MX and it was way cheaper than most of the professional video editing software I looked at. The main issue seems to be they've all switched to a subscription model and you can't get older versions for older computers and operating systems. So if you buy a refurbished computer, you're just out of luck.

>Please continue the playback issue in your previous topic on codecs

You told me it was Not a codec issue. Remember?

>I have an issue with one project when adding chapter markers, they do not appear in the disc menu, saving the project with a different name or adding a version number, and reloading this it fixed this issue

Sounds like a work around instead of Magix actually fixing the problem. I remember some years ago I was installing computers and $6,000 Dental Office Management software in a Dental Office. I called Tech Support and they actually said, "Oh? You Found That? We were hoping no one would use that feature. No we don't have a work around. We were hoping to address that in our next upgrade in probably 8 or 12 months."
