graphics accelerator keeps getting deselected MEP 2017 Premium

barry-summer wrote on 5/21/2017, 9:38 AM

I am a longtime Magix user-last version was 2016 before upgrading to 2017. Initially I had issues with warning about graphics driver crash and restore, so I d/l the latest RADEON driver and those warnings stopped. I noticed erratic playback using HD files and when I go to Program settings under display tab, it keeps deselecting standard mode w hardware acceleration.

When I return to settings, it has changed to Compatibilty mode for windows. I do have hardware accel checked for both under import/export tab.

Note: Never occurred using mep2016 plus.

I also have not been able to use New Blue Titlers as one crashes MEP instantly, and the other says it is not installed correctly

(tried uninstalling/installing 3 times-it says successful)

I am frustrated now, and wish I had just kept 2016....that even got along with the old driver version.

Appreciate any tips. Thank you

Barry

Hi

Make sure you have the latest patch installed for MEP2017 via "Online update" in the top Help menu.

I am frustrated now, and wish I had just kept 2016....that even got along with the old driver version.

You can keep or reinstall 2016 on your computer if you think it works better. Multiple versions of MEP can coexist on the same PC without problems.

Scenestealer

Thanks very much for the reply/tips. I had already installed update for MEP2017, and checked again yesterday, but I had the latest version. I didn't think I could have more than one version of MEP installed without conflicts, but that is a good idea, and I'll try that.

Appreciate the help and support.

Regarding Scenestealer's suggestion, I left MEP 2017 Premium, but just installed MEP 2016 back on my PC.

The 2016 version had no graphics error boxes or crashes, plus under settings/program/display/video mode:

It keeps the standard mode/hardware acceleration with Radeon card selected. Playback is much smoother in playback window. I checked settings and it kept the standard mode. When I try this in MEP 2017, it immediately reverts to Windows compatibility mode.

I strongly feel the new version has an issue.

I also reported to Magix that NEWBLUE TITLER EX immediately crashes MEP 2016 and 2017, even after uninstall/reinstall. NEWBLUE PRO TITLER doesnt crash MEP 2017 but I get a message that program could not be used due to install program ( uninstalled/installed 3 times)

JOHN EB
Thanks for the link. I currently have 2016 and 2017 Premium installed, and 2016 does not have the setting/hardware acceleration problem that 2017 does.
I appreciate the help from you guys but I am deeply disappointed with the upgrade.
Hopefully the Magix team can respond to my query.
THanks again

Hi

I have both MEP 2016 and Premium (2017) running on an i5 with integrated HD4600 GPU and have no issues with HWA dropping out.

If you are using an Intel i5 or i7 processor and wish to test if the Radeon card is the issue, pull the card from the PC and run using the integrated graphics chip.

Hi

Not sure it will help but see this post as there maybe something in the AMD Catalyst Control Center that will do similar to the Nvidia counterpart. Seems like 2016 was not immune.

It is always advisable to restart the program after making changes to HWA in the display properties, to make it stick.
