Which GPU output is your monitor connected to?

Can you see both GPUs in the program setup manager and do you have both selected?

If you are only seeing the Intel GPU listed make sure you have VPX listed in the programs for the card to be used in the NVIDIA control panel and you may possibly need a ghost connector on the GPU output you are not using if you only use one monitor. There are a few current threads on this topic on the Movie Edit Pro forum at present that would be applicable to solving your problems.

This is from Movie Edit Pro, but VPX should be similar?

Sometimes, depending on what is being rendered, one GPU will work while the other is idling and sometimes both do roughly the same amount of work.

What is a long time?

Even with encoding taking place, some renders can take many times the length of the video to complete. Even with my i9900K a fifty eight second clip in 4K depending on content can take up to 37 minutes to complete.

Hi.

If the rendering is just video with no effects, that is the result I would expect.

Whether in Handbrake or VPX.

Are you sure you have the Intel GPU showing in the top box and the NVIDIA in the lower one and using the standard renderer?

Also did you add VPX to your NVIDIA setup control app as I asked?

In my old i5 4460 computer, it took 1: 1 to render this 1 minute HD file. That's why I was hoping that a new better / more powerful computer should count faster and at least 1: 1 ... I have the card settings as you wrote and I added VPX to the NVIDIA configuration control application. I already miss ideas ...

It should be faster if the new processor has more cores and has a faster clock speed. I'm not sure why you stuck with the i5 and didn't jump up to an i7. Are you using the same motherboard as you used with the old processor? The bottleneck on old motherboards was the North-bridge which has now been superseded the new Intel Chip-set and possibly DDR3 ram. By the way, The Intel GPU needs to be plugged into an HDMI port not a DVI port to activate but if it's showing in MEPs settings it should be active. Try a purely graphics clip of titles or something and see if the Intel GPU is the one working. Normally on my machine it is the Intel doing the video clips and the Graphics card doing the Graphics, although not always.

Also check you are using the latest bios and Processor drivers as Windows often reports everything is up to date when it isn't.

Can you clarify the following

HD do you actually mean HD 1280 x 720 (720p) or Full HD 1920 x 1080 (1080p or 1080i)
what export preset did you use
what changes, if any, you made to the export preset

I mean Full HD 1080p, but it doesn't matter anymore. Now it is as it should be. This 1 min Full HD 1080p test file now has 43 seconds! The 1 min test file UHD counts 1: 1! Now it can work. What caused the problems? Comodo Firewall ... I wouldn't have thought about that if he hadn't totally blocked my internet! I uninstalled Comodo and VPX "regained" power. Also, someone may need information that antivirus programs or firewalls may create problems. Thank you all for your interest and help! The screen shot of the Intel graphics processor is attached.

I also wonder why that should be unless it is checking that the two legal copies of the software you are allowed to have are not running at the same time which apparently is not allowed under the T&Cs.

I have not seen any evidence of this with my laptop when travelling. The only slowing down I have seen with VPX and MEP was when I switched to using Windows Defender from Avast on my PC.

WD appeared to be scanning every file on demand, every time they were accessed in VPX and MEP, not just once per session.

As I commented in another topic a few weeks ago I reverted back to Avast and all is happy now.

I've not really used a program before that has an attached popup every time it's initiated so not sure of its significance. The only time I've used a laptop away with me was for photo editing. Then I use PhotoMechanic as it's great with dealing with pre-tagging, grouping, and sending results to predetermined ftp servers as well as editing.

Fair enough, I wouldn't know as I've never used the Windows security features and been an Avast user since Win 98.
