Having problems recording vocals MAGIX music editor program

MIKETV101 wrote on 10/23/2012, 2:08 PM

I've been using the music editor to do my recordings because the denoiser and auto balancing are really great,  and mixing the tracks in a separate program. Its been doing great for me but sometimes it acts up on me. Mostly with vocals, but sometimes I'll record and entire song of a vocal track and it'll show it all recorded. But when I press stop recording it'll detect the song abit and cut away all but maybe a minute of it starting at a random point in the song. I've also tried recording it in smaller chunks but it still happens frequently. Can anybody tell me whats going on here and give me some suggestions? Thanks alot

What version of Music Editor?

I would have to try this myself to see if I get something similar, If you don't mind walking me through how you are recording. Screen shots would be welcomed.

Its MAGIX Music Editor 3 and Im running Win 7 if that makes a difference, Im doing the mixing in Audacity  and thats where the music plays from as I record it in the other program. I'll try and capture an example of it cutting the audio.

Thats about what happens there, as you can see its about a minute of audio down to nearly 20 seconds from a random point. Ive made a few other songs this way and Ive had the problem to a lesser extent. Just wondering if theres a simple workaround.

Running two softwares that both are competing for the drivers, codec's, and memory of the hardware in your system might have something to do with the issue. I cannot say for sure I do not use Audacity, so I am not sure if it plays well with other software or is somewhat a resource hog.

I do think however, there is just an issue of resources being cut off from one application or the other, this causing an error.

Can you tell me how you do the recording, is it through a sound card or an integrated sound chip?

Are you using a "Stereo Mix" setting or "What U Hear"?

As a test, can you record just your vocals in the Music Editor 3 got 2 to 3 minutes. Make sure you are set to "microphone" in the sound device settings of Windows 7 or if you use a USB microphone, that it is selected in the Music Editor 3.

Let me know if the pure vocal recording has the same anomaly that you have explained here.
