HELP! Jerky Video Playback Can't Fix It....

Hi,

I have MAGIX 2013 Premium and I am certain that this has nothing to do with my computer which is completely able to play a video smoothly. In the playback screen, the video is jerky and skips. I also noticed that the little line that goes through as it plays is not there. The audio is perfect and sounds fine, not matching the choppy playback.

I have googled all of the things to do to get it fixed - such as change the resolution, I have powered off and on my computer (has worked for me before when I had that issue) and etc. Nothing seems to work! I try to preview render it but it says: No time critical ranges found, you should be able to play your project smoothly -.-

When I export the video it's normal... I can't edit like this and it must be fixed FAST! HELP!

The exported movie plays just fine alone, but when in the timeline it does not work. and my resolution does not work half or full.

My system specs:

5.87 usable GB

64 bit based operating system, 64 bit processor

Processor: Intel Core

Rating: 5.7

Hi,

I have to tell you that I cannot be certain that it is not your computer because you have not posted your computer specs, nor have you given an indication of how long your project is, does it contain a lot of effects and transitions, does this only happend in the timeline during playback.  What if you export the project and try to play it back in the timeline.  This stuff is actually important.  You may know that your computer specs are such that they are unlikely to cause this type of problem, but we don't.  What playback resolution are you actually using?

Hi,

Your intel processor should have more than just intel core.  The term "core" is a intel name for mid to high end processors, so it should be something like Core Solo, Core Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, etc.  Your RAM is a little light even though it more than meets the spec.  Have you tried using the "low resolution setting under screen settings?  And are you using any effects or transitions that could be challenging your CPU.  The fact that the audio is not "jerky" tells me that there is some issue with how your video is being rendered even though "preview rendering if you are requesting "automatic" is not finding anything to render.  Try selecting ranges that have effects and just render those ranges and see if it improves after having switched to low resolution.  It could also be your GPU which you have not mentioned because that processes the graphics.  What computer are you using? Laptop, desktop, make and model.
