If this is the first activation of the codec it should have worked. However if you uninstall the program and reinstall it you will need a new activation code. If you write to Magix with your original purchase order information, they should send you a new activation code although new activations are limited. I think I was allowed three before I needed to buy it again. Magix are not in charge of the codec, more like they group licence it and have to account for the amount of activations. It's like a royalty payment.
Somewhat lost here Ray, I have never purchased a HEVC Codec from Magix, yet have no issue importing or editing H.265 video into Movie Edit, I do have the Microsoft HEVC codec installed (cost $0.95) with no limitation on number of activations and all my video software can also play without issue
So could you please explain what's different with the Magix HEVC codec, which I assume will only allow Movie Edit to use it
The Microsoft HEVC decoder allows playback. The Magix HEVC encoder allows the program to encode to HEVC.
If you have VPX as opposed to MEP the encoder is included in the purchase price.

When I try to save a file in HEVC format, I am unable to do so because I am prompted to activate HEVC. Even though I have an activation code, it is no longer valid even though I have purchased it HEVC Codec Upgrade (H265 Intel) program. Today, June 16, 2022, I reinstalled Magix Movie Edit Pro. I have upgraded my motherboard and processor, which means that my computer ID also no longer matches what it was last year. Why should I buy a new HEVC program once I have already purchased it and how can I activate it for this new system?
. . . . I have purchased it HEVC Codec Upgrade (H265 Intel) . . . .
In the HEVC dialog that opens is there a link for re-activating an already purchased codec?
If so, click it - you will need the serial number and the purchase order number - should be in the purchase confimation email, to re-activate it.

When I try to activate the HEVC program, I get this message: "You have already used your maximum number of activations; another activation is presently not possible. Please contact technical support if you have any questions." What does that mean?
