hit 'create new frame table' by mistake- MEP 2013 Plus

Hiya- I inadvertently hit create new frame table by mistake when dropping in an mp4 file instead of create waveform display. Now I can't see the visual of the audio for each file (which is sorely needed in my multicam project). I tried to edit/undo it, that didn't work. I even closed out the file prior to saving and went back in. The 'flat line' of the frame table is still there on all the files even though they are being re-imported into the project.

Am I past a point of no return...or is there a way to get my audio display back on the files ??? Can you undo a frame table?

Hi,

Perhaps I've misunderstood?

1. Your MP4 defintely has audio content and plays OK outside MEP?

2. After rebooting your PC, starting MEP 2013 with a fresh project and importing your MP4, you see the audio in track #2?

3. It plays OK, at an audible volume?

4. But it doesn't automatically show its waveform immediately after importing?

5. And you cannot get it show you the waveform using Right click > Create waveform?

Have you experimented with these settings?

BTW, I noted while researching this reply that some of my MP4s (chosen randomly) do automatically show the waveform after importing, even though I don't have that option set.

For lack of more specific information, I'd suspect you are mixing the display of the audio waveform ('Create wave' form as suggested by Terry) and the default 'flat line' which represents the volume of the audio track. Are you for sure displaying the audio and video on two separate tracks? The frame table is AFAIK just for better (smoother) video display and has nothing to do with audio.

Terry ... A 'yes' to 1,2,3,4 and 5. And last comment- good to know about those automatic features. Learned something new ;-)

John...unfortunately I indeed WAS displaying the audio and video on 2 separate tracks and somehow the visual was still a flat line where there is typical normal audio. Pretty weird.

Anyhooo, I found my own workaround in the meantime. I closed out of the project without saving once again. Then, I went into the mp4 files and renamed them. It worked. When I tried to reimport those files again, they then showed the audio correctly. Problem solved. But, thanks for your help!

Pleased to hear you got it sorted.

I've had (and reported here and to MAGIX) rather similar problems, when a rename resolves it. It's as if once an object gets weirdly corrupted in some way, MEP makes it permanent. For me it's mainly been objects getting distorted and placed in the top left corner, but it looks as if your issue might be associated.
