How can I edit chapter titles and prevent MEP 13 from truncating them?

I have never used video editing software, and I am using MEP 2013 for the first time and learning it. So far I am impressed. However, after a lot of time setting chapter markers and giving them solid descriptive titles that are not all that long, i am frustrated that MEP is truncating them even though I removed the checkmark to truncate them. And a response I found to a similar question elsewhere indicates that once you've gone to Burn mode, you can't revise the chapter titles anymore for the menu, which is ludicrous! Surely that is not the case and there must be some way to better edit and save the desired titles. With all the control that MEP gives the user, surely they wouldn't override such basic usability in that way. How do I include the chapter titles in the menu system that I feel are important to the usefulness of the menu? And how do I edit them if I make a mistake?

JWLoewen,

I just checked in MEP 2014 and long chapter titles are no problem if I choose a font size that is small enough rather than the default. The fit tick box seems to decide whether or not there are line breaks included. Note also that you can adjust the size and position of the box where you enter the titles with a click and drag on it outline.

Saving the project and reloading it I could make changes to the title no problem. I'd assume 2013 is the same but don't have it loaded to check for sure.

Regards,

Carl

We discussed this a couple of years ago in the thread:
http://www.magix.info/us/magix-mep-plus-any-version-chapter-marker-titles.forum.857927.html

Here's a fresh summary:

I regard it as a long standing bug that MEP fails to reflect changes from Burn mode in Edit mode. And also the less important flaw that names in the timeline overlap. (In case I didn't do so previously, I've now formally reported it to Magix Support.)

However, in my MEP 2013 Premium version 12.0.4.2 (UDC2), note from my latest screenshots that the earlier truncation problem happily doesn't arise, at least at the 54 character level.

And as I reported here in 2012

the names can be long. Providing, as Carl said, you make the font small enough.

I recommend doing as I do: exclusively using Burn mode for managing your chapter names.
