how can I extend the length of a track after I finish recording?

Hi. I have Music Maker 11 Deluxe version 11.0.1.3 and I'm recording keyboard music via a midi interface. I don't know why, but lately, MM has been cutting off the last few seconds of what I record. I'm not real happy about that, but if I can just extend the length of a track when in midi editor, I can probably rerecord what got cut off. I just can't figure out how to add a few bars. Can anyone help? I use windows vista home premium. Thanks very much.

Hi

Try waiting a couple of seconds after recording the main part of your session then play some notes to get the extra number of bars you need.

Then edit the recording and remove the extra notes.

Hi John. I can do that the next time I record, but in the meantime, do you know how I'd add bars to something that I finished recording? I thought about opening it up and recording over it (hitting just a few notes so that I can easily delete them), making sure it lasts longer than the original, but there's got to be an easier way. I'm not even sure if that way will work anyway. I might cut me off when the original ends.

Hi

Put a soundpool file on to another track, stretch it and then drag it past the end of your recording - this should add extra bars - delete it when you have made any other changes you need.

Hi. I'm not sure what a soundpool is, but I think I figured out how to solve my problem. It's kind of odd, but it worked. Thanks.

These were my steps:

open the file in midi editor
go to the end
click the combi-tool drum pencil
click and drag PAST the end, creating new notes, and go a few more bars
export midi
close music maker program
open it again and drag the track back up
delete those new notes and now just record or edit

With due respect, moderator has already provided information but I want to add some extras.

What soundpool is? and how to stretch in MMM 11 deluxe?

Take a look at the screen shot

When I open MMM 11 Deluxe and insert the Magix DVD audio(soundpool)added automatically. Refer image bottom with red square area. These are audio files known as Soundpool.

Next question how to stretch? first look at the second screen shot. At the top look at the red square(stretched bar)showing 18 bars however, in the first screen shot it is only 8 bars.

If you want to add more bars or stretch to the right just drag the audio file and drop on the track keep adding and IF you can not move to the right CLICK on MINUS sign refer screen shot. It will add space. You can reverse the step by clicking on the PLUS sign. (these plus and minus signs are for zoom in and out).

Keep adding bars unless you are satisfied.

Keep only longer bar in the track and save the project such as "100 Bars" next time you just open this project do your other work and save project with new name and export audio.

You can also export the longer bar as an audio file and can drag and drop next time when you want to do work. You can make several versions, 15 Bar, 66 Bars, 100 Bars or 120 Bars as you wish.

Hope the above information will help you

Note: Quick method to make a longer bar. Use Songmaker, keep adding until you get desired length (bars).

Click on OK, just keep the first track and delete others. Save the project/audio file.

Thanks for all your input, but I'm still having trouble. First of all, my solution doesn't always work. I just reinstalled MM, but that didn't solve the very tempermental attitude that my version seems to have. In a nutshell, right now if I edit an existing midi file and save it, the new midi file sometimes comes up blank. But that's not the problem I'm addressing right now.

I tried dragging up the midi file, and stretching it. I opened the editor, but it doesn't show the part I stretched. If I open the editor on the part I stretched, it doesn't show the original part. I'd like to be able to edit the entire thing at the same time. If I drag up another sound file instead of just stretching the original, the result is the same. I highlight both the original and the stretched/added part at the same time, but still I can't edit them together.

I wonder why you are using midi? didn't you read the answer?

Sorry - I've been sick all week and haven't really had the energy to look at this. My problem is extending the midi editor, as opposed to the track from outside the editor. While the editor is open, is there something I can do to add bars? I found one possibilily, but it doesn't work consistently and I know there's got to be an easier way. From outside the editor, I can add to the track, but it really just becomes 2 back-to-back tracks instead of 1 longer one. Thanks.

Sorry to know about your sickness.

I think it would be better, if, you could ask question once again as follows:

----------------------------------------------------

Q. How to extend bar in Midi Editor

Details:

Music Maker Deluxe 11,Windows Vista Home Premium

When the midi editor is open how could I extend bar?

---------------------------

If your question is simple and clear surely someone will guide you in right direction.
