How can I record my original sound?

Hello. I have Magix, and I've connected my Yamaha keyboard via MIDI to my laptop. Thus far, I'm able to get sound and play but only through the use of the MIDI instruments on the program. I'd prefer to record the sound directly from my keyboard. Any insight on how to make this happen?

Thanks for answering. It's a Yamaha YPT-310. I have no line-in on my laptop. To atone for this, I have a Behringer USB Guitar Link. However, though the device is recognized and selected for input, I hear no sound in the playback. In other words, I'm recording without being able to hear myself before I cease recording and press play. How can I fix this?

Yes.  You can't record "sound " (audio) through MIDI.  You would need to connect the Audio OUT on your keyboard to the Line-IN on your computer (assuming you have one) or audio interface (also assuming you have one).

It would also be helpful to tell us WHICH model of Yamaha keyboard you're using.

Thanks for replying.  The Yamaha YPT-310 has a combination Headphones/Audio-OUT jack.

I hear no sound in the playback.

You hear no sound from what?  The computer?  The Behringer Guitar Link?

You should be able to monitor your playing through the Guitar Link.  It's likely you won't hear anything through your computer since it does not have a proper soundcard that is full-duplex.  In other words, it cannot record and play at the same time.
