How can I use my external MIDI keyboard to record tracks without severe latency problems on each track?

I have Magix 13 Premium Music Maker, running Windows 7 with a HD sound card, and a driver to play a Yamaha PSR 293 as a MIDI keyboard with a USB. I can use the Yamaha as a MIDI device to play VSTi tracks one at a time, however, when I try to record another track against (synch with) the first track, there are severe latency problems, and I can't fix them in the edit mode, nor can I find information in the Help menu or on any tutorials regarding buffering. Does anyone know how to resolve latency and buffering problems so I can record and synch each track the the next one?

Depending on the spec of your computer you may have further problems as you record further VSTi tracks while playing back previously recorded VST tracks.
