How do I creat a blank Object so I can have a "title' page to which I can put text.

New user of Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus.
Trying to create a starting title lead in to my movie. It appears that I have to attach to an "object". But I don't want to put the title over my opening shot. So, I’d like to create a blank background, attach it to the beginning of my movie (as an object) and then go in a put a title on it.

dalaver,

You can simply put in a plain black image, eg .jpg or .bmp, using any photo editor eg Magix Photo Designer or Windows Paint. They all have a 'fill' tool, usually a paint bucket icon, to make the entire area any color you want.

But you don't have to bother about a background as a title is an object and can be placed on the timeline on its own. You must be working in storyboard mode where you can only add a title by clicking on the 'T' icon at the corner of a scene/image object. Switch between modes using the little square icons -- arranged vertically at the very left of your screen in MEP14+, or horizontally below the preview window in MEP17+.

Timeline is the much more useful editing mode allowing picture in picture, collages, green screen effects etc. Have a read about the modes under 'Video editing' in the Help menu.
