Do you mean version 14 or 2014?

If you mean 14 (released in 2008) then this version is not compatible with Windows 8, the only solution is to update MEP to a Windows 8 compatible version.

If the version you have is Movie Edit Pro 14 - then yes you need to buy Windows 8 compatible version.

Note the program interface has changed significanty from version 14, however there is a lot more functionality in te latest versions(s).
