I bought Magix 15 Music Maker a few years back. It's been on my computer since. Now I can't find the CD that I bought and I haven't got a backup so I can't get it on my new computer. Is there a way I can get the product back?
You may be out of luck, but you should call Magix customer service and see if they will provide you a replacement CD or download version. Go to magix.com, click "Contact" then click "Magix Customer Service"
It will probably help if you have the serial number handy, from when you Registered the product on the Magix site. Again, go to magix.com, in the upper right-hand corner, click "My Account" - Logon with your user credentials and then click "My Products"
You'll see all of the Magix products you've registered. Find MM 15 and it will have the registration date and serial number.
The worse case is that they will not replace the product (which, frankly, they have no obligation to do) but will offer you a discount to purchase the current version, which is something you might consider doing. The product has improved since version 15.
Lastly, make sure you copy your existing Soundpool files from your PC before getting rid of it. Magix usually includes an assortment of soundpool groups and, in the past, they change with each version. So, if you keep your existing soundpool files, you'll have those in addition to the new ones that come with the current version. At least, that's what I've done in the past (I don't have MM15 so I don't know what soundpool files came with it).
Iif your new computer has Windows 8 installed, then you should upgrade to the latest version, as you will almost certainly hit some compatability issues, the most likely one being your CD/DVD drive may not be recognised by MMM as several other users of older Magix products on Win 8 are experiencing.
