How do I move layered objects into frame

Chris-Kuhn wrote on 8/18/2020, 11:47 AM

Hi all. I've just upgraded to MEP2020 from the 2013 version. I'm still trying to find my way around as the interface it looks quite different. The one feature I'm having a really hard time locating is showing/adjusting the points for object movement (IMG attached).

The purpose I'm after is when layering objects, I want to slide a new object in from the side or bottom, then have it retreat from the frame again. In MEP 2013 the object would show adjustable points when adding/applying a movement template.

Any help that anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!

@Chris-Kuhn

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The interface certainly will look quite different if you are upgrading from MEP 2013 to MEP 2020!

I'm not entirely clear what you are asking but to have objects slide in etc, you need to have a look at the Effects>Size/Position options. These include key-framing which is, I think, the equivalent of what your screenshot is showing. (Key framing Size/Position allows an image to start fully off-screen, gradually appear (and grow larger if required) and then disappear again.)

Hi

The feature is still there see he image below - numbers refer to steps below for movement

  1. Size & Position effect set at least one keyframe - in the image below there are 4 keyframes - see the more accurate way below.
  2. Turn on the curve you want to see
  3. Switch the mouse mode to Curve mode - hold down the left button for a second for the menu to appear and edit curve.

A more accurate method is to type in the position values in the Size & Position dialog for Left and/or Top according to the movement you need as shown in the short clip below

In this example the project is 1920 x 1080 pixels so the Top values are:

Keyframe no.

  1. 1080 for the start (just off the bottom of the screen)
  2. 0 for fully up
  3. 0 again to lock the length of the image to be visible
  4. 1080 final position

Note

1. Press the Enter key after typing in the values.

2. You can adjust the timing if necessary by dragging the keyframes left / right in the keyframe pane.

@emmrecs @johnebaker Thank you both for the help. :)

John, that was exactly what I was trying to do. Much appreciated, and the video explanation is worth a thousand words!
