How do I plug in my Fantom X8 or Yamaha 293 to the Magix 13 program and record what I have played directly?

I have a Yamaha PSR293 and a Roland Fantom X8 (which took me a year to figure out how to use), a Dell laptop running Windows 7 and i3 processor. I write lyrics on my typewriter and compose orchestral works on staff paper. I downloaded Magix 13 trial and can't figure out how to plug in either instrument and record directly onto the software program. I usually go to a recording studio, but it is very expensive. I would like to leaarn how to compose directly onto MMM13, but the tutorials all assume the user already knows how to use the program. I DON'T. It's like learning Greek. Can anyone help me understand this new language so I can record orchestral works that are in my head?

That's difficult to answer completely because you've told us absolutely nothing about the computer/equipment you plan on plugging these into.  For instance, do you have an audio interface?  A soundcard?  Or, a blue Line-IN jack?  None of the above?

Considering you're using a laptop, it would be best if you had a USB audio/MIDI interface.  To record the internal voices of these keyboards, you need to connect the AUDIO Outputs of the keyboards to the Audio/Line-IN on the usb interface.

The Yamaha uses a combination Audio OUT/Headphone jack.  This would require a 1/4" stereo (TRS = tip-ring-sleeve) plug.

On the Fantom, you would use two mono (TS = tip-sleeve) 1/4"  phone plugs plugged into the L-R Output 'B' jacks to get your stereo output.

The other end on the cable would depend on the type of audio input jacks on your interface.

Thanks, Procryon. I have USB out from both keyboards and USB "in" on the computer. The sound card came with the computer, and a driver installed on the Dell for both instruments so the computer "knows" that eachkeyboard is plugged in and working correctly. I believe it has a MIDY interface because it knows when the keyboards are connected. That's as far as I can get. Now I need to know how to use the software.

OK.  You cannot record any of the keyboards voices over the USB connection.  The USB connection transmits only MIDI information.  So, in effect you would only be using your keyboards as MIDI controllers to play software "virtual" instruments (VSTi).  Is that what you're trying to do?  Your original question led me to believe you wanted to record AUDIO of the voices from your keyboards.
