It now says 'the defined folder does not exist or is not in a folder' :/

Hi

Check that the Recordings folder location, specified in the programs settings, does exist and that you can create files in it.

Johnebaker has already guided you but here is some more info.

First of all are you talking about My Record folder? or which folder any way you can find that using two methods. First check your My Documents/Rock edition/ (name of your folder)

Or open program settings of Rock edition and check the folder paths. If there isn't any folder you can make and add that too.

You left these comments on tutorial:

I made the new folder but its still recording through the pc mic

Did you follow this

"Now go to Control Panel of computer click on “Sound” then click on “Record tab” and
choose your Keyboard/Piano click ok and leave.

If you got setting on off on your Keyboard/Piano turn off sound Play and check the result.
"

ADDITIONAL: I just saw you have added screen shot on another tutorial

You should choose ASIO DRIVER  from drop down menu.

 . . . . Do you think windows 8 has anything to do with this . . .

In my experience - very likely - Windows 8 is appears to cause a variety of problems which should be simple to resolve yet require digging around in the 'engine' to get them to work eg missing DVD burners, and odd problems with 32bit software.
