How do I reload previous settings after I reset it to the default setting in Music Maker 2013 Premium? I let it reset to see if I would get my export options back but it did not work and now all my previous settings are gone.

I have Music Maker 2013 Premium. Every now and then the scroll stops working and the export options are all greyed out. Usually this is fixed by a computor reboot, but this time it did not work. I decided to try to reset the settings to default but all my previous files seem to be gone. How do I recover my previous settings since they were backed up in a bak file.

Hi

. . . . How do I recover my previous settings since they were backed up in a bak file. . . .

Are you referring to the Arrangement bak files?

As you did a program reset this creates a new musicmaker.ini file and you lose any custom settings for the program eg file and folder paths etc which I think maybe why you cannot find your files.

Unless you made a backup copy of the musicmaker.ini file in a different file location, you will have to re-enter all the program settings you changed.

Once you have done this make a backup copy of the musicmaker.ini file - you do not say which version of Windows you are using however in Windows Vista,  7 and 8 the file is normally located in the following folder - note it is a hidden file so you should set Windows Explorer to show hidden files :

C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Music_Maker_2013_yyyyyy

where   xxxxxx  = the username you use on the computer and yyyyyy = the version of Music Maker.

If you cannot find the file, use Windows Explorer to search for musicmaker.ini - include hidden files in the search - you will find several copies of the file - the one to backup is the largest in file size (mine is ~ 24kb in size).

Once you have this backup copy you can 'reset' MMM by copying it and overwriting the current file in the original location with the clean backup copy and retain any customised settings.
