i have a poem that i have put into a video but i have no idea how to slow down the text and i have it animated going from bottom to top but other than that i am stuck.

Try increasing the length of the title object that contains the poem - you can do this by dragging the right edge of the object further to the right.

On the timeline, you are placing the text block for it to go from bottom to top in x amount of seconds. If you drag the right edge to increase the amount time thus letting it more time to move from bottom to top.... meaning it will move at a slower speed.
