How do optimize recording on my device and computer while using Magix 17 Deluxe?

While recording on my Mackie Onyx Blackjack, which is updated and working properly, I am experiencing slowed down, lower pitched recordings even though there are no problems while tracking the take. In other words, the files themselves come out distorted, even though the take sounded perfect. It sounds like somebody elses voice, and the pauses are too long. I am running Windows 7 32 bit on a toshiba satelite from 2007. Im using 1GB @ 1.73mhz duo core pentium 3

Hi,

RAM could be part of your problem here.  Please have a look at this link.  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/9038c21f-5184-468c-bf5b-9f54bca70c5c

By the way, if your processor is really 1.73 mhz and not 1.73 ghz it too could be a source of problems for you, not just with music maker but many other applications.

Good Luck

Hi

Unfortunately a laptop with a dual core P3 processor at 1.73GHz with 1Gb of Ram is not practical for running Windows 7.  The processor will be busy with servicing windows that it has little time left for running other programs eg anti virus and MMM at the same time.

The distortion you are experiencing is the equivalent of 'drop outs' in video.  There is not enough processor time to service the data coming in at the correct rate and get it onto the hard drive - this is demonstrated by the distortion, increase in the pauses and change in voice.

Reverting back to Windows XP may help the problem - however this is a drastic step which is not guaranteed to work.
