How do you create the tv-screen effect?

I am creating an animated/machinimated project where the cliche moment where a man goes passed a television store that so happen to all be showing the same thing and is an important news-cast.

I do not need them to actually look like televisions, but I just need to learn how to add multiple small video screens. I saw it done with other editors, can it be done on Magix Movie Edit Pro? If so, how?

Vclaw24,

You can do all sort of 'picture in picture' effects with MEP. The details may vary a bit between program versions, but in the newer ones (up the MEP17) you would have your TV store as the background in a higher (lower number) track, your foreground man in a lower (higher number) track, and your TV newscast material, as many copies as you need, in between. Then, for each copy of the TV broadcast, you should go to the 'Effects' tab >> 'Movement effects' >> 'Size / Position'. A dotted marque will appear around the clip in the preview window which you can adjust to any size and position you want. Additionally you can add '3D Distortion' to give the effect of viewing your TV sets at an angle rather than straight on.

This will give sharp cornered images like LCD TVs. If you need to simulate older sets with rounded corners I'd suggest adding a frame to your original clip and then making it transparent with black or blue screen chroma effect.

To see what's happening you will have to add your clips one at a time or mute those that have not yet been reduced in size.

Hope this helps,

Carl
