Error -5 is a generic error indicating that something tripped up the encoding process - depending on which step this occurred on the issue is usually related to either the movie eg there is an object or effect which caused an issue or with the Disc menu eg you have made a change to it that has caused an issue.
Try exporting the timeline as:
an AVCHD file if you are burning to Blu-Ray disc
OR
an MPG file if burning a DVD
note the movie time in the export dialog when the crash occurs - this will tell you the region of the timeline where the error occurs.
If the error occurs in the Disc menu and you are editing the menu, then try using the Red Smoke menu template, I have found this to be the most stable for editing, edit it and then burn using the Image recorder option - avoids wasting discs.
Thanks for your reply. It is appreciated. It is frustrating when what looks like a normal burn aborts for some unknown reason. Also, yesterday after a burn to DVD was successful MEP froze up completely. Couldn't close it in any way and I had to kill the AC power to the computer and do a restart to solve this. Maddening. I have been using various MEP versions way back to MEP 14 and still occasionally MEP acts up. My computer is a Windows 10 unit desktop. We users are grateful that people like you are there to help!
