Hello,

How can I add animated GIF / looped MP4 overlays like the flames or water as in this video hier for example (at 0:50):

I downloaded this MP4 loop here https://videohive.net/item/fire-flames/13478436?s_rank=24 and tried it with this,

but unfortunatly it either covers my video with black background or is in invisible.

How does this work?

Thanks for your help!

Alex

@alexander8

Hi

. . . . unfortunatly it either covers my video with black background or is in invisible . . . .

There are several things you need to do:

  1. Place the effect on the first free track directly below the video clip you want to apply it to

  2. Apply the Chromakey black effect - Effects tab, Video Effects, Chromakey

  3. Resize and position the effects clip using Effects tab, View/animation, Size/position

  4. Adjust the length of the effects clip to fit the video it is being applied to:

    - if required to be shorter, trim the effects loop as required

    - if the video clip is longer than the effects clip, copy and paste the effects loop as many times as required and trim to achieve the correct length.

  5. Make any other adjustments as necessary eg apply Fade in/out etc

Hi,

1. Many of clips of the sort you describe have a black background.
2. So use Effects > Video effects > Chroma key.
3. Choose Black, as I've shown here, to make black transparent.
4. Place it in the track below your background, i.e. in the layer above your background.
5. Then adjust the size and position, etc to suit.

Here's the result of that quick test.

EDIT:

Hi John: We were obviously working on this simultaneously!

Hi Alex: I downloaded the trial of your fire clip. There's a very short section usable which I've cropped and trimmed and uploaded here:
