How to delete the end of movie (it is an empty part)

superlip wrote on 4/25/2017, 1:52 PM

Dear all,

I'm working with Video Deluxe 2015 and I'm having a problem. I cut a few scenes and now I can't export a movie without having a huge spot of completely black screens.

I found something which has something to do with alt+del, but I can't figure out what to do with it.

Can anyone please help me?

Thank you very much!

Hi

. . . . I found something which has something to do with alt+del, but I can't figure out what to do with it. . . . .

You need to set a Range from the end of the last object to the end of the blank space - see image below.

Hi Johnebaker,

Thank you for your very quick reply. Unfortunately I don't understand how to make that range. Can you please help me?

(And are you Dutch or not, so it is probably easier to talk in Dutch haha)

Greetings

Hi

Sorry Dutch is not among my languages 🙁 - English, German and a little French.

The image I posted tells you where, with which mouse button and in which order to click the range bar above the timeline - you do need to be in timeline mode not scene overview.

Hi

Referring to my answer above, Terry has asked me the question - 'shouldn't the end of range be set with a RIGHT click?'

When deleting the empty space after the end of the movie a left click will select the entire range when the range bar is clicked after the end of the last object on the timeline.

For clarification - below is a video clip showing this in action and also how to delete an empty/blank range between two objects on the timeline.

Hi John,

Alt + Del, thanks! New one to me. I've been deleting such gaps with a series of keystrokes but that necessitates losing a frame and your method is more elegant. (Where did I miss it in the Help/Manual/KB shortcuts?)

Dragging leftwards is in practice not too bad, if you get the speed of collision right.

Re the right click, I'd wrongly assumed the sequence of your clicks, despite your careful numbering!
