HOW TO DISABLE FAB.EXE ??? - VIRUS-LIKE BEHAVIOR!!! :-(

FABS.EXE is running even after stopping it from the Task Manager. Also, from the CONFIG.exe file this FABS.EXE process CAN NOT BE DISABLED! It just activates itself even after deactivation, just like a malicious VIRUS!

The other issue is that this FABS.EXE interferes with other online programs and video games!

So, how do I disable this thing? I've learned that it is a Magix program. And quite frankly, it is rather outrageous that MAGIX installs a program that can not be disabled! :-(

Hi,

Just so you know, FABS.exe is not a virus or even any other form of malware.  It is simply a program that watches filechanges and does service tasks for the media library.

Here is how to remove it.  Be aware, I have no idea if it is critical to the operation of Magix Programs, you could try re-naming it to something without a .exe extension then run your Magix programs to see if there are any issues or contact Magix support.

By the way on my system, there are two instances of this file.  One is located at

C:\Program File (X86)\Common Files\MAGIX Services\Database\Compat 1.5\Bin

the other is at

C:\Program File (X86)\Common Files\MAGIX Services\Database\Bin

Any good security application (I do not consider any Microsoft security app to be a good security application) should be able to allow the application to run as trusted, low restricted, high restriced or not at all.

Good Luck,

George
