How to Frame Person in Video

yeshua68 wrote on 1/1/2019, 9:37 PM

I've been watching someone make videos where a video background (such as a garden or the ocean) is put as a background and seems to frame the person moving. As the person moves across their dance studio they are highlighted. It's very hard to explain so I was able to get a picture showing you an example. Is this possible to do in Magix Movie Pro Premium 2019 and how? I only know how to make one of the videos transparent but on their videos neither are transparent. I hope this makes sense. I'd show you a video but their videos are only available on facebook. But if you need one I might be able to get it for you.

Hi,

this can done placing on first track the black and white photo, On the track 3 the color background that we see on screen center, on track 4 a mask the one with circle or ellipse in middle an activate the alpha channel and finally on track 5 the poeple using a green screen with the chromakey function activate the give a transparent background. This can be done with Magix VDL or any video software with chromakey function.

Regards,

YR

In Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium there is a tool called 'cookie cutter' in the effects section that will do this in one go. There are also picture in picture tools for different shapes and a moving picture in picture feature. The New Blue elements effects within MEP have three different ways of doing this type of effect.

I use those to produce more than one picture in picture at a time, similar to Jame Bond openings while overlapping and fading each in turn.

Is there a "How To" video out there that shows how to use the "Cookie Cutter" effect? I've seen it but never knew what it was. Plus when I tell it to apply the effect the software seems to freeze. I then can't work with the software at all and sometimes I'll walk away, come back and it still hasn't unfreezed. I then have to do an "end task", shut it down and start over. Very frustrating.

@yeshua68

Does your PC specs meet the MEP requirements?

What is the full spec of your PC?

What file types, sizes, and resolutions are you working with?

Editing video is one of the most processor intensive things you can do on a PC. It requires on average, reasonably high spec components. Normally when a program freezes, it is running out of either processing power, memory, or hard drive space or speed. Use Windows Task Manager to see whats happening.
