kpeoctat,

Suprised there's a problem... I can simply drag a mp4 file into MEP14+ and that's an older version. I do get a promt for conversion to a format for easier editing but that can be ignored. Is the issue with a particular file, maybe it's corrupted, or all MP4s? Can the file be opened with say Windows Media Player?

Some video cameras produce odd varients of the 'standards' requiring their own software to import to a PC. You might need to do that or even use some other program to do a conversion. Many Magix users use 'Super'. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html It's free but sometimes hard to find that actual download link!

ADDED: As other players can decode your file there is another option to try. Under 'Program settings' >> 'System' tab >> 'Import formats' is a list of MEP's internal import modules. Sometimes disabling one will force MEP to successfully use a corresponding codec that is already on your computer.

OT: I considered the GoPro for a while but was informed the current models are 'waterproof' but not suitable (poor focus) for underwater photography because of their curved front lens element. I decided on a Sony Playsport instead. Not as cool looking but does the job. It also fits in my shirt pocket!

Hope this helps,

Carl

Thanks Carl.

I guess my camera is the problem -- I am using GoPro Hero. I converted files into .mov and it solved the problem. It still strange that any player can open files, while Edit Por cannot. The message I am getting is

"The file format cannot be read!"
