How to make Glitch Effects on Video Pro X?

Xtron-135 wrote on 12/24/2020, 4:45 AM

Firstly, i didnt mean to offend anybody in anyway ๐Ÿ˜…. I found it is really easy to find a template or even tutorial about Glitch Effects on other video editor especially free one like Filmora, Inshot, etc. Even theres a lot tutorial about it specifically for Premiere Pro and other "well known" editor. As Video Pro X price make it looks like, "a super special advanced" editor, why is it so hard to find resource about this? Its like not even a single human i found making tutorial on youtube etc. Please somebody help.

Hi and welcome to the VPX user to user forum.

No offence taken asking a genuine question. You are correct that it would be a third party effect or template such as this one I found on producer planet. As such it would be considered a third party effect.

VPX can use any OFX based effect or a simple movie of a mask and use the Chroma Key effect using the alpha mask to blend into your video clip. Or you could use Boris Continuum or similar packages that are effects packages that work within VPX which would do what you want and much more. You could of course also make your own by producing your own masks and sequencing them. They would take a lot of time putting together but at least be original.

[Edit] I have just looked on the web in general and there are tons of sites offering these types of effects that can be used in VPX. Here is one more.

Ray.

Hi,

Look at the tutorials for other products. They do not show built-in glitch effects for the main programs, they show ways to make your own using built-in effects.

There are many, many glitch effects that can be made. I can make a tutorial showing one, but it wouldn't be what you want, so why bother.

Do you want a glitch effect on a video clip or a glitch transition effect?

VPX has many effects that you can use, keyframe and combine. Make your own effect. Look at the effects that you have available - Glow, Art filter, Lens flare, Add noise, Sharpness, Gaussian blur - most with more than one effect to play with and combine. Also, General options has a bunch of preset effects. Most glitch type effects are a combination of effects. Try them all to see what they do. Make combinations of effects.

For transitions, you have Transitions basic - Alpha magic. Apply it and open the settings and select one of the variants:

Look at the other transitions - Effect transitions basic, Movement basic, Transitions basic - they each have glitch type effects but they don't call them glitches. Try them out.

You can also try out the various Pixelan offerings. Some of them contain glitch type effects.

Look at my tutorial on using Pixelan SpiceMaster Pro for ways to make transitions with effects.

When you find something that you like, make a tutorial about it and publish it.

Further to the above, there are many effects that can be obtained through the Store.

One is NewBlue Filters that contains the Old TV effect. To make an old TV glitch effect, watch this tutorial about doing it in After Effects.

Pay attention to the part about using NB Old TV - it's the same thing in VPX if you have the plugin.

Keyframe and combine this with other effects.
