How to revert sample root Major chords to root Minor chords?

cemall wrote on 8/30/2012, 10:33 AM

Hi,
Sorry for my weak English.
I composed a song. Its root (tonic) chord is A Minor .
In Music Maker  the sample root chords are in C Major.
How can I revert the tonic chord C Major to A Minor?
And I have this problem:
My song in A minor the 5th dominant chord is not E Major, it is E Minor.
But I can not change E Major to E Minor... And I am just new Music Maker user.

I thank you very much for the answers.

Your English is better than many who have spoken and written it all their lives.

"But I can not change E Major to E Minor"

You're right....you can't.  The soundpool samples (wav, ogg) are what they are.  You can only edit the length and change the pitch and tempo.

If you want to dictate the key and chords, you must play your own compositions in the Vita MIDI Editor using one of the virtual instruments.

Hi,

I may be wrong, but can you not use the "harmony agent" to change the key and the chord from major to minor?  Maybe I have a different version, but I do this all the time.

I could be mistaken as I do not profess to be an expert on music maker. And although I have played music for over 30 years, I don't worry too much about the theory side of music, I am much more focused on how it sounds.

Good Luck

Hi gandjcarr

I thank you very much for your message.

I tried it, but the "harmony agent" does not change the key.
It is for harmony recognition and for the harmony information.

But is interesting, it applies the chord to video format in guitar fret.

Thanks again...

Hi,

Sorry I could not be of more help to you.  By the way, your English is excellent, so don't worry about that.  I just wish I could have been more help to you.

Hi,

Dear Procyon,

First of all I thank you very much for your words about my English.

And I thank you for your answer.
It was very helpful.

I read your message and i realized very good what you said.
"I can change the midi format notes in midi editors, but i can not change the wav format sounds."

As you said I will play my own compositions in the Vita MIDI Editor using one of the virtual instruments. Or just the opposite (I use Cakewalk Sonar X1) I will play in Sonar X1, then the importing process from Sonar X1 to Magix Music Maker.

And I will try to use Melodyne... In Melodyn the wav files can be seen in midi formats, but i am not sure for the chords.

All the best from me

As already discussed, the Harmony Agent is for the identification of harmonies and assigning those values to the audio file for future use (such as with Song Maker).

You can CREATE set harmonies using Elastic audio, but it works best on single melody lines with no effects applied (in other words "dry").

My point was you cannot change the existing chordal structure of audio files.  To use another analogy, it's like trying to change from fresh eggs to powdered eggs after the cake has been baked.
