how to save clips

From a big video file I select a portion, clip, segment -- whatever you call it -- and want to save that clip as an mp4 file. But MEP 17 Plus, which I am using, will only allow me to save the whole file. What to do???

Once you have a range in the export dialog select the Export selected range only option in the MP4 export dialog as shown below

The above image is from a later version of MEP, however MEP 17 is the same and the dialog shown is for mpg export, the mp4 dialog has the same option.
