When exporting an AVI there is an option that is set to "Don't play out", but after the export the new AVI file plays. There used to be an option in one of the setup menus for preventing the playing, but I can no longer find it. WHERE DID IT GO? I am running the latest version of MEP in Windows 11.

The option is at the bottom of the export dialog, however it does not always work - mine is set to Not play out, however mp4 h.264/AVC, not h.265/HEVC, exports play anyway.

Since I just submitted a problem report to Magix, maybe you ought to do this. As I said there used to be an option in the program setting to prevent auto play, but I can't find it in the latest version.
Hi, i just exported in all formats, none played out after, Automatically preview exported clips is unticked & the one in export shows as Don't play, on some it's greyed out
If i try to render as AVI i get this msg
export as DV AVI won't let me change frame rate or size
PS, Export as AVI exported @ 1920x1080 but won't let me use 3840x2160 even though it's in the drop-down menu.

If you are going to play around with older codecs I think it is best to find out about the original specs at it was introduced by Microsoft the 1998, Things have moved on since then.
The first warning sign for me was when trying to select AVI as an output file the top drop down box only gives a 'Standard' option with the set frame rate and resolution size appearing underneath which was as far as I know the last resolution and frame rates available to the standard AVI format by Microsoft. I have seen reports on the internet where people managed to get up to 1080 x 1920 but failures occur after going past 15 fps due to a lack of available bits per second in the original codec.
However Microsoft did two further updates to the avi format and if you select the last one on the list within the advanced setting and manually type in the resolutions for 4K and keep the export to 30 fps or below then you will get a successful export. But again there is no guarantee that going beyond those settings will give a viable output file. The resulting file also automatically was played back on my system although the quality was awful as the bit rate and compression was getting bad for such a resolution and frame rate.

I've never heard or read of anybody using Microsoft Video 1. Either uncompressed, LAGS, HUFF and some others (UT, Magic) are the common AVI codecs used. There are dozens, if not hundreds.

Gid, that's because the PAL DV-AVI standard is only 720x576, 25FPS (AFAIK).

Just that within the limited options inside the menus within the program (MEP 2022) that the results get worse to view the higher the frame rate and resolution one selects. There is severe banding an blockiness in my example.

The option to completely turn off the play after export is on the import/export tab in the program options. I would swear that this option was on another tab at one time. It should really default the other way to never play after export and let the user select it if they want it.
