HumbleBundle with Video Pro X11 for 25$ US

browj2 wrote on 8/13/2020, 7:23 AM

HumbleBundle is offering Video Pro X11 (VPX) and much more for 25$ US (33.57 CAD so I presume that this is 25$US). Note that it does not come with any external plug-ins, such as NewBlue Elements 3 & Ultimate NewBlue Titler Pro 6. When you pay, you get a link to the downloads page containing the activation codes and voucher codes that come from Magix. The version will be added to your account products in Magix.com.

This is a great opportunity for those who would like to upgrade from Movie Edit Pro at a low price, making you eligible for the upgrade price for VPX12 and/future versions. Plugins from older versions, including those obtained with Movie Edit Pro Plus/Premium should all work. There may be exceptions, like Mercalli V4.

Along with this offering is:

  • EDIT: Music Maker Plus Edition and a 40$ voucher for Soundpools through the in-app Music Maker Store (Music Maker is free but Plus is not). Valid for the complete Music Maker in-app store except labeled 3rd party instruments, Song Maker and Music Maker Editions until December 31st, 2020. Any remaining credit expires with the one-time redemption of a voucher, meaning that if you use the voucher for a 10$ item, that is all you get.
  • ACID Music Studio 11
  • Soundpool EDM Discharge voucher for purchase from Producer Planet

  • VEGAS Movie Studio 16 Platinum - No external plug-ins included (No DVD Architect & no NewBlue Transitions 5 Ultimate)

  • SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 13 - No external plug-ins included. (No iZotope Ozone Elements)

20 days left for this offer.

Hi John.

How many versions of VPX is it behind?

Would what is included still all be royalty free use?

Would I have to purchase another HEVC codec?

I am tempted and I still have a bit of room left on my C: drive.

Can I have this run with retaining MEP?

I'm not really interested in the other programs as much.

Ray.

Hi Ray.

VPX11 is one full version behind; current latest is 12, so this sounds to me like a pretty good deal!

Your HEVC codec will be fine. VPX actually includes it "as standard" so no additional purchase necessary.

@browj2

Mercalli V4 still ran for me under VPX11. It failed to run under VPX12 and disappeared completely when I was finally able to upgrade to V5.

Hi Ray,

I would expect that the license conditions is the same - royalty-free. My previous experience is that the program and activation codes all come from Magix and there is no distinction between what comes through HumbleBundle vs purchased from Magix. It's all Magix.

Yes, just leave MEP on your computer like I have. Installing VPX does not affect MEP. Of course, Windows Apps would be updated to have VPX open if you opened an MVP from Windows Explorer.

@emmrecs

Hi Jeff,

For those who do not have a previous version of VPX with Mercalli but have MEP with Mercalli V4, I would expect that the Mercalli V4 license would not work with VPX11. I don't know if upgrading from VPX10 with Mercalli V4 to 11 through HumbleBundle would keep Mercalli working, but I expect that it would as VPX11 would probably replace VPX10 (another unknown). I went from VPX10 to 11 and Mercalli kept working.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes sounds good if only to find out if it is in fact smoother in use and more efficient than MEP. Better than trying out the trail version at least and give me an idea how good my new nvidia card actually is.

Hi John.

I've never bothered with trial versions. The chances are if I didn't buy it I wouldn't use it. I wouldn't have even bothered with Boris Titler if I didn't think I would find a use for it. I look at people's reviews, look at specs, ask questions where needed and then make a decision for better or worse. I'm the same with the free stuff.

For the price they are asking I'd be happy just downloading VPX. I am curious about Vegas as that is what I initially searched for before purchasing MEP. The alternative would have been Cyberlink's offering. I'm currently relatively happy with MEP but in case I get any more requests to make videos in future, the VPX with commercial use is appealing to me.

This is a great opportunity for those who would like to upgrade from Movie Edit Pro at a low price, making you eligible for the upgrade price for VPX12 and/future versions.

In fact, as an owner of MEP you are automatically entitled to the upgrade to VPX rather than buying it for full price.
That is how I got VPX in the first place myself.

@CubeAce

As this HB appears to be simply buying legal licenses for VPX, I suspect the license also includes the 1-year Update service (from registration). In which case you will also be entitled to upgrade VPX to current v12 version.
NB! This is an assumption, not a fact!

Expired on purchase. You get a patch for v11, though. Probably the last bugfix update.

I still picked it up, so that I can put it on my laptop. Pairs decently with Samplitude Pro X4. The OpenFX and VST Support seems non-existent, though.

The third party stuff doesn't come with this deal. no NewBlue Titler or Transitions plugins, etc.

Thank you for that info.

Considered buying myself, as my upgrade service is long gone, but with no Ugrade Service there is no point for me

I mange to install and register my VPX up to version 11, as I had kept the installation files, even though my Upgrade service was bought while v10 was current.

So even with a higher price, I will by the upgrade that do include the 3rd party extras.

I have just pulled the trigger on the offer and am Downloading VPX now. It has updated itself and I have until the 25th to decide if I want to take advantage of the update offer to VPX 12.

[Edit] Idiot boy that I am. If I really love this program I could always upgrade via my MEP program.

Wow! nearly completed the install in the time it took to write this. Just travel maps to go.

I may not have the additional effects of the paid version but it has activated all my MEP premium effects and store content.

I wasn't expecting that.

VPX11, not update to VPX12, as I expected.

OFX and VST Support should be there. There is only one version of VPX11 and it's the full one, without add-ons, of course. If you don't have any OFX from HitFilm or NB from previous versions of VPX or MEP, then nothing will show. However, we did find that some OFX from Boris worked. We got Boris Title Studio free.

For VST's, they have to be 64 bit and you have to navigate to the appropriate folder(s) in the Program Settings, Folders. You use them through the Mixer, FX, click on the + at the bottom left of the effects screen.

Try LoopBe1 to connect VPX and Samplitude as master/slave or slave/master; they sync and run simultaneously.

@CubeAce

You are eligible for the Upgrade to VPX12, but you have to pay. I don't suggest doing so at this time. Wait until there have been at least one more patch plus the next round of new features, probably in October or November. That way you get into the Update Service part way through and you'll be able to get the next full release of VPX if it comes next summer.

I am still on VPX11 and there is nothing new in VPX12 that I can actually use.

Hi John.

I wasn't planning on upgrading any time soon if ever.

I'm going to try importing MEP projects to see if they work. I doubt if they all will as indeed some of MEPs 3D transitions do not appear and have not been downloaded with the program. I have the same amount (and as far as I can tell the same transitions) as the person (John Oflaherty) in another thread (MEP) asked about when I was telling them what should be there. Virtually everything else is available that I have in MEP.

Are you sure John? How does this sound:-

June 08, 2020 INFUSION Engine 2 INFUSION Engine – power for virtual all PCs. Graphics cards by all leading manufacturers (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA) are now supported. This enables smooth playback on most hardware setups, even for multi-track projects in up to 4k Ultra HD resolution.

The spec. says with Radeon cards with 1GB or more which you have. Beats the annoyance of needing to create proxies to get decent playback performance. The ability to decode on the discreet GPU during playback really is a big boost.

Well.

That was easy to crash VPX on my first export 😆.

Note to self. Do not try to move the timeline marker during an export.

All pug-ins that did import seem to be working including third party MEP bundles. All seem to be registered and activated with no additional help. HEVC coded activated without a hitch. I can see my nvidia card being used for HWA and graphics sections are rendering faster on export using HEVC. Preview editing screen is still not as clean looking as the final export looks. Still having to use proxy files at 4K. Additional metering on second screen looks pretty.

The 3D effects I said were not there are still not there. For whatever reason I don't think they are supposed to be there. Download times were blisteringly fast for all parts of VPX and seemed to go without a hitch.

Have now been up all night and feeling a bit light headed.

I may now have a nap before I try again.

Hi John

I have to agree with @Scenestealer on this one - the performance difference on my old 4th gen laptop is noticeable.

I have not tried it yet with a full 4K project yet - will let you know what difference it makes as soon as I have more time to play with it - our major garden project is virtually finished.

Hi Ray,

What is the version? I have 17.0.3.68, which is the last version before VPX12, I believe.

Did you save the download files for the additional content? If so, what is the size of one for ...FadeEffects...?

The 3D titles (Xara 3D Maker7) should open. Something is wrong with your set up/computer as these should work. I presume that they work for others. For VPX, Xara 3D Maker7 should automatically open when you add a title to the timeline or double-click on one.

You also have the Project Temp Folder. I seem to be the only one here who uses it. Here is an example. I have a simple folder setup with some elements that I use for tutorials. The arrow and animated brush were resized, added to the PTF, renamed, description added, originals deleted. I added in the music file to the PTF, deleted from the timeline. All are still in the PTF. Saved the PTF. Rather than adding these to a project manually, I just open the saved PTF file into my project and I can simply drag the elements onto the timeline; they have the effects already on them.

You can change the name, add description, scene and take.

If you have an image with effects or even as split clip with effects on one part that you want to use more than once, insert them into the PFT, rename, and they are there for using elsewhere in your project. No need to go back to find the clip and copy it. Etc.

@Scenestealer @johnebaker

Hi,

And I don't even use proxies.😁 Other than possibly smoother playback, I don't see anything else. I don't do 4K projects.

John, it took me a year to virtually finish renovations to the upstairs bathroom. Then I started the actual construction which took another year. 😁

Hi John CB.

I said I had the same amount of 3D effects / transitions (and same ones) as shown in John o'flaherty's post on the MEP. discussions. I did not say the one's I had do not work although I've yet to try the New Blue Titler 6 that doesn't work in my copy of MEP.

I watched the download of each section of the additional content to make sure the file sizes matched (as best I could as they whizzed through).

Although the HEVC exports are quicker and using my nvidia card, the MP4 export times seem almost equal when using MEP. I do prefer the colours used in the VPX interface and the additional content in VPX that isn't in MEP, but I've yet to start exploring those.

What are you on about Zara 3D Maker 7 for? I don't understand. It was not listed as part of the download as far as I'm aware. Remember I did not have most of the previous versions of things that you probably have. All 3D titles seem to be there that are in MEP.

Hi Ray,

This tutorial shows how to modify the 3D titles in Magix Movie Edit Pro (MEP) Plus/Premium and Video Pro X using Xara 3D Maker 7. The program only loads fully when using VPX, not MEP so you need to download it or buy it. You can also import 2D objects made in a vector drawing program like Xara Designer Pro into 3D Maker as shapes or as buttons. For more information see:

When you load a 3D title in VPX, it should automatically open Xara (with an X, not with a Z) 3D Maker 7.

About the download of additional content. There is a button to check before downloading to save the exe files to C:\Users\Admin\Documents\MAGIX downloads\Installationsmanager folder. That way you can see the size and if you have to reinstall, no need to download all of that again. Did you save these files?

You don't understand! Xara with an X!

Xara 3D Maker is embedded in both VPX and MEP, if not, then the 3D titles will not work. Did you not watch the video? In VPX, selecting a 3D title will automatically open it in 3D Maker - it says Magix 3D Maker, but it's actually Xara 3D Maker 7. Thus, you should have it and it should work - just like I said in the video. Look under the ProgramFiles folder for VPX11.

You complained about the 3D titles not working. If they don't, it's because something is wrong with your computer or setup.

For the Fade Effects, what is the size of the exe file? It should be about 207MB.

Hi John.

The 3D title files not working was sorted months ago with the rebuild on my new system. I haven't mentioned it since.

Please reread my first comments above about what appears not to be in my version of VPX compared to what was imported from MEP and that it has curious similarities to another users experience.
