I feel betrayed

TommySan wrote on 12/24/2020, 3:07 AM

I just bought new Music Maker 2021 premium edition. The description said that upon buying the edition I will be able to choose 3 instruments of my choice. The description of the product did not say that the new instruments are not selectable! I feel betrayed. I would not have bought the version if I knew that, since I already had Music Maker premium edition 2020 and I bought the 2021 version only because of the additional instruments!! I want refund or ability to select new instruments!

EDIT: I added screenshots. The first image shows that I was entitled to get 3 Magix Instruments by buying 2021 premium version. Any exceptions were NOT listed!! Why did not they inform here clearly that Dynamedion and other 3rd party instruments are excluded! When I already bought 2021 premium version, I noticed that I was not able to install some instruments after all. See second picture. Only as I opened some instrument, I saw that there were also instruments also from another vendors depicting that "This item cannot be activated using Store Credit." As I said earlier, I feel so betrayed by Magix!!!

Thanks for all the comment guys you have provided for the topic!

I think the problem is either you haven't activated the new version or logged into the shop properly. If you're logged into the shop log out and back in again. I don't think this the fault of Magix.

@Graham-Hawker Third party instruments in the store cannot be bought with the included coupons. I think that @TommySan wants to buy some of those.

Hi

When redeeming coupons and/or using the credit you can choose from selected items which will be offered as you go through the redemption process.

I'm confused by this. The in program store only has Magix instruments as far as I can tell.

@TommySan @Graham-Hawker

There are some third party instruments in the Store under Instruments. Most say that "This item cannot be activated using Store Credit."

Others says "Dynamedion" and these are third party instruments at the top of the information for the instrument. Magix instruments will say "Magix" at the top.

To see which instruments that are available for use with credits, click on the credits button - INSTRUMENTS - at the bottom of the screen.

Gosh that's not well shown. When used to the system it's easy to assume that all instruments would be available. If I had spent £29.99 the current instore offer for the Premium version and wanted to add some brass instruments I would have missed that small print. I can see this might annoy some people.

@Graham-Hawker

Hi Graham,

I agree, Magix should make it clear that only Magix instruments can be purchased with Credits.

Probably, the most efficient way to get all Magix instruments and many more would be to get Independence (SAL version that acts as a plugin) with the 70GB of instruments. There was a sale at Magix recently; watch for this.

As well, one should keep the previous 32bit version when upgrading to the 64 bit version (MMM2021) because, as indicated on the Magix web site, "Music Maker Store credit from older versions cannot be redeemed in Music Maker 2021 (Version 29 or later)."

Have a Merry Christmas!

I also bought the "upgrade offer" I already had premium, but it did not say anything about any of this.. the only reason i bought this was for the 3 soundpools, the soundpool collection, 3 magix instruments and the 2 mini instruments...This is looking highly misleading of Magix and a poor business practice. Hopefully support can fix this issue for me... or at the least, give me my new licence number so i can give it to my kid as a gift.

I can't purchase a darn thing. I finally (by chance and trial) found the place to put in my serial number. I got this in August but only now had a need to work it and it doesn't do squat for me.

Every time I try to buy a loop set it comes back with an error box and not one little bit of explanation. Just error. Didn't work. Great going MAGIX! You really need some people designing your interfaces and web work who can see the site from the users' viewpoint. This is really too jumbled up to be clear.

Every time I've closed the program it took me to a buy-the-program screen, but I DID buy it in August. Every other program from every other company has a clear dialog of some sort to enter the serial number or activation code. Not this one. You have to stumble on it.

In any case, back to the loops. I couldn't buy anything before I found out where to drop in the SN and I still can't do anything about getting loops after.

@Michael-Strong The dialog for entering the serial number is the first dialog that opens when starting the application. This shouldn't be hard to miss.

You can deactivate news pop ups in the program settings.

If an error appears when you try to buy a soundpools you can try it at a later time or you can also get your Soundpools on producerplanet.com

Hi

. . . . In any case, back to the loops. I couldn't buy anything before I found out where to drop in the SN and I still can't do anything about getting loops after. . . . .

See this short tutorial about redeeming coupons/credits.

Do note:

  1. before redeeming credits do check which Soundpools, Instruments etc you already have - once a credit is redeemed you cannot change your mind.

  2. You can only use the credits for specific Soundpools, Instruments as offered when you go through the process as shown in the tutorial
