I hate some of the changes brought in by Movie Edit Pro Plus!

Kiefer-Charlesworth wrote on 9/17/2021, 6:15 PM

I have been using MAGIX Movie Edit Pro for a few years now and have had a lot of fun making and editing my videos for YouTube. In the previous version of MAGIX the options Size/Position and Rotation were separate categories, and in both of them you could keyframe on the keyframe timeline easily to have your image or video clip move and rotate/flip/other stuff at different moments.

I have been trying out the new MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Plus 2022 for the past few days and I am not happy that they decided to combine Size/Position and Rotation together! I can't keyframe anymore, or at least I can't find any way that shows me how to. And I can't make the clips on my project timeline move at all! I hugely dislike this feature and I hope MAGIX will make Size/Position and Rotation separate options again in a patch or update. Or at the very least tell me how I can return to the previous version of MAGIX because I can't work with this feature! Why did they take something simple and mess with it? Don't fix it if it's not broken, people! Please somebody help me!

Sincerely,

KJ

Hi.

I think you should still have access to your previous version of MEP in your magix account.

To start to add key frames to the new version of size position rotate and activate the 'add key frame' just try turning one of the rotation handles and then setting it back to zero. This seems to activate the effect. It is a reported bug but so far no reply or update to the program has been forthcoming so far.

Ray.

Ray, I'm not sure that's correct. In my account (I'm on the Update service), only the latest version I am entitled to is available for re-download. I'm still on 2021 but the MEP download in my account is 2022 (which I ain't touching with a 10 foot barge pole yet!). 2020 and 2019 are not available.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

The new Size/Position/Rotation effects have been discussed several times. I suggest that you look for the threads.

To activate the keyframes, you should only have to click in a box, like the Width, and the keyframe buttons will be activated. No need to change anything.

See my various comments about the new rotation features in this thread.

And look at comments and problems with MEP2022 in this thread at the top of the forum.

I think I’d rather buy a previous version of MMEP than mess with this nonsense. Disappointed with the new version already. Fixing things that weren’t broken, trying to look innovative and all that. I think I might find an older version online somewhere. When MAGIX has made Size/Position and Rotation separate options again somebody message me and let me know.

Hi,

When MAGIX has made Size/Position and Rotation separate options again somebody message me and let me know.

Size/Position and Rotation have always worked together - they show up under "Image Size/Position" in the keyframe area in previous versions, once turned on.

I don't see any problem with this. Now we have Rotation on the same effects screen as Size/Position, which is more logical, in my opinion.

However, there are plenty of real bugs to deal with in this version. Size/Position and Rotation being on the same screen is not one of them.
