I have 2013 on two computers, both crashes

angel-b2 wrote on 6/14/2014, 2:49 PM

I have had this on my lap top since last Christmas. It worked great, but now I can`t get this one to work at all on two computers. Everytime I instal it, put video`s on it, a few seconds later is has a serious error and crashes. I feel as though I cannot use this anymore. Frustrating because I like using it. I`m on a french computer now, I just installed it here, it says the computers compacity is 432 Go. My lap top is much smaller than that i know. I can`t understand why this program keeps doing this. The program is ...Video Delux 2013 Movie Edit Pro.  Thanks...

Hi,

Probably you have to clean your computer using CC Cleaner or using Windows tools to clean and defrag your hard disk. Also, using the program manager to close unused program before to open Magix video. (Ctrl Alt Del).

Thanks for your quick response, yes I have tried all of that, But I think it might have something to do with my video files, they are from an Android phone these vids, I tried to use pictures instead to see if the software would work and it worked just fine... thanks again for your reply..

Hi,

Use a software is free called MediaInfo to check your video file . Also you can use the QuickTime player from Apple (free) and use the inspector tool inside the software.

Yes, I have something that does all of that. I do know what you are saying. I have a program that does not react well to CC  or I would have that, but anyhow, I think it really might be my phone videos. They work fine on windows movie maker, but not on Magix. I will try some other types of videos to see if it's that though, thanks.

Hi Angel-b2

Media info analyses a video file when you right click on it and produces a text window with all the attributes of the file. this allows you to copy and paste the text into a reply on this forum and we can look at it and see if there is anything obvious that might affect Magix's ability to play it.

Having said that, MEP has export templates for output to Android phones and tablets so it should be able to play content from them.

I'm really sorry, but I don't understand this. How do I get a text file from the video? I right click on it the video and it just gives me options to do things to it via magix. Could you take me through the steps? I'm not sure  where to get this file. On Magix? On the video file itself?  Thanks so much.

Hi

Download Media Info via this link: http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo .

From this page click on the screen shots link and what we are looking for is the Text version under the Windows heading. If you can not see the info in this form after Rt clicking on your video file and selecting Mediainfo, in Explorer, then select the second icon from the bottom at the left of the window ie. "Change the means of viewing the information" and you should see the info as in the screen shot. Copy and paste this into your post / reply.

Wow I'm really sorry to sound dumb, but I do not understand this. I downloaded this and there is NOTHING like any  of that information on Magix of the file of the video or on my vidoe file itself, but then you say  something about screen shot links, Rt clicking on video file, which I have done, and Media infor in explorer?? I'm not getting this at all. What does the internet have to do with  my video file? Maybe I am misunderstanding this obviously...LOL.. Please explain, thanks so much agian for your time!!

Scenestealer wrote on 6/18/2014, 6:38 PM

If you have downloaded the Mediainfo tool then it should create a choice in your right click menu - "MediaInfo" although this may be a choice to create this shortcut when you first install the program. If it is not visible then launch the Mediainfo program from you start menu and open the video file from the Mediainfo program.

This has nothing to do with Magix MEP and works from within Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), or My Computer.

The screen shots are picture examples on a page accessed from a menu at the left of the page I gave you the link to.

Well done!

The thing that stands out is that the frame rate is reported as "Variable - Minimum 10.3 and Max 22.5fps". This may be a cause for the problem. Are these movies you have streamed from the web or are these files you have recorded on your own phone?

Start a new project and drag a file onto your timeline. If a window pops up saying your project settings are different to the video clip and would you like to adjust the settings, then click the "Adjust" option and see if this allows it to play in the timeline (Arranger). If this does not work then you may have to convert the video in one of the free external video converter programs (Google - Free video converter) if they will accept it, and try importing the resulting file into a new Magix project.

Well, yep I sure did try that. And it still crashed. I am very leary of downloading video converters. I  went through all of that before and I always have to clean out my computer, most that say are free, arent. I can't find a "Google...free video converter though"... I tried one but it's from CNet, I wont download anything from there.

Oh Ok, I'm a bit leary of that, I have done this before though. What format should I put this vidoe in if I do? I do think that Magix has that option thought right?

Scenestealer wrote on 6/22/2014, 6:39 PM

Hi

What you convert to depends a bit on what you want to do with the exported movie, but for the purpose of this exercise maybe just try DVD video or even just MPEG4 at 640x480pixel (NTSC) resolution 30fps.

Have you checked that your MEP2013 is on the latest patched update. Go to Help in the menu above the preview monitor and select "Online update" from the dropdown list and it will check and tell you if there is a newer version available and download it for you. I have seen bug fixes for 2013 and 2014 which mention "import compatibility":

MEP 2013 Premium
Important changes to version 12.0.4.2 compared to 12.0.3.4
* Various bug fixes to:
-Blu-ray authoring
-Import compatibility
-Export
