I have Magix Music maker 7 Deluxe installed on my old computer. i want to put it on my newer laptop, but it does not have a cd-rom drive. How can I transfer the program to my laptop? I tried to copy the program to flash drive from installation CD and from program files on my old computer with no success. Help please! My old system runs XP and my new laptop runs Windows 7. I tried to register the software for technical support but my serial number isn't recognized!! Help please!

You're wasting your time.  A version that old is not going to run properly in Windows 7.  It way past time to bite the bullet and purchase the Windows 7 compatable version - MX.

Obviously, without a DVD drive, you'll have to do the download version.

(No - I do  not work for MAGIX, and I receive absolutely no compensation from them.)

Thanks a bunch. I figured as much, since my serial number wasn't even recognized. I just downloaded a trial version to try out and will eventually purchase one of the newer products. Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it!

I guess I will be kissing MM7 goodbye.

BE WARNED!  People who have installed the TRIAL version and then tried to install the full download version have run into problems.  To get a good, clean install of the full version, you must completely remove ALL of the files from the trial version.  Unfortunately, simply uninstalling the trial version does not remove all of the files that may interfere with the full version download.

If and when you decide to purchase the full download version, come here first and ask how to remove the trial version files.

Oh boy. Well thanks. If I decide to download it I will come back for tips. Will any of my old compositions be compatible (file.mmm) or will I have to convert it to a different file type?

The file types will be the same, however it's not very likely MM-MX will be able to run them.  There have been too many changes in the intervening years.  Besides, aren't they finished already?  If not, it's not very likely they ever will be.  You should make sure they have been converted to high quality audio files and leave it at that.  It's time to move on.
