After a project loads it will freeze. The app is pretty my useless at this point since it always freezes?

I have read another thread and set the in/pro/output to CPU.

my setup

- 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900T @ 1.50GHz

@bob-denny

Hi

I have moved your post from the Movie Edit Pro forum to the Video Pro X.

The first lne of your post says MEP when you have Video Pro X (VPX)

Is there a Nvidia or AMD graphics card in the computer?

Are the Intel UHD 750 drivers up to date? The current version is 30.0.101.1191 and is available here.

What version of VPX, or MEP(?) were the projects that crash created with?

Are the projects loading OK with the Import, processing and export settings set to CPU?

UHD 750 Driver version is 30.0.101.1273

NVIDIA Quadro Pro 1000

I started a project prior to the update. I started a new project after the update. The projects load fine with the settings at CPU. I just tested loading pics in a new project and it froze

figured it out. There were HEIC files in the pic folders. I converted them and the app no longer freezes

VPX 13 is supposed to be able to import HEICs.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@bob-denny, @AAProds

Hi

VPX 13 does import HEIC files.

Bob - check that the Microsoft HEIF Image extension installed - it should be listed in Windows settings, Apps.

HEIC is a variant of the HEIF file format.
