Greetings.
I've been working with the free trial of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro (Version 16.0.2.56) to see if it's suitable for my purposes. So far... pretty good. It's taken a little bit of getting used to after coming from other similar editors but that's to be expected. I really don't need a lot, mostly just something I can work with efficiently, but there are a few things I'm worried about with this product.
The main issue I'm having is with transitions. I don't need a ton of fancy transitions for the vast majority of my work, but I do need a few simple ones. I'm fond of using what I call "Star Wars wipes" when editing videos. If you've studied media at all you probably know instantly what I'm talking about.
The problem is MMEP seems to be extremely restrictive in this regard. A regular wipe (Read: Blur) has exactly four directions. No diagonals. That's fine, albeit highly disappointing. What bothers me is that the closest MMEP has to a radial or "clock" wipe is the "Alpha Magic" transition which has a few pre-set variations but absolutely zero options for any of them. I really just want the sixth one to be able to start/end at a different angle and possibly be able to go in reverse. I don't think I'm asking for a lot with this.
So, my question is this: Is there some sort of hidden options menu or a way to create a custom transition by using an image sequence or animation or something? I'd even accept a downloadable one but all of the transitions I've found are the big flashy ugly things that even most amateurs detest. I just want some simple options for basic wipes. Just stuff I could do in the 80s on a Video Toaster. That shouldn't be too much to ask out of a modern piece of commercial software!
If you have any information that can help me, PLEASE let me know.
Thank you all very much.
