Ignite Color: Cine Commercial and Ignite Keying & Flares Release

Re: Ignite Color: Cine Commercial  and Ignite Keying & Flares Release

I just purchased the above from the Magix store. When activating it won't allow me to create an account and asks to create an account on fxhome.com. The website no longer allows account creation. How can I activate these 2 software plug-ins?

Thanks,

Stephen

Looks like you are correct.

I just tried to log in.

@Stephen-Chisholm

You should contact Magix for a refund at infoservice@magix.net or through your Magix account.

Those products should be taken down from the website.

Has anyone try to download Hitfilm? I can't get it to happen.

CubeAce wrote on 5/1/2025, 3:58 PM

@Reyfox

No.

My copies went on before they shut down.

Wasn't even aware of the closure but wasn't surprised since they changed their business model. They did great small extension packs but stopped making them available to third party NLEs. It was on the cards when Artlist took over in 2021 and stopped the small package sales.

Artlist the parent company have apparently shut all Hitfilm options down. Artlist still exists but seems to be subscription based and no longer supports Magix products officially.

@CubeAce in the Hitfilml user forum, there was a lot of worry when Artlist took over. I personally own Hitfilm Pro and Ignite Pro 5, so was keen to know what the future was going to be. They made a lot of promises that they didn't keep. We in the Vegas Pro user forum also followed the sale of FXHome because Vegas Effects is based on Hitfilm Pro minus some features (Foundry Camera tracker, and some effects). I voiced my skepticism of the future of Ignite, and Ignite 5 was the last version. I still have it, and it works just fine in Vegas but not in Magix. Boris FX Continuum has everything in Ignite, is better implemented and there are more effects, although the price of Continuum has gone up.

Reading the complaints of how the purchased plugins (which worked with Hitfilm Express, since Pro had everything) no longer worked with the "new" Artlist versions didn't go well either. And you are right, they pushed the subscription model for everything, including buying the "new" plugin packs.

I have no love for Artlist in what they did. There are videos on why FXHome sold to Artlist, but while there might be some truth as to why, I don't for a minute believe everything that was said. But that's the business....

I do have the installation files on my computer, but was not able to use the download links to download either the Windows or PC versions of the software.

Artlist officially closed FXHome in January. But before they did that, they shut down the user forum and Facebook group a while ago. It is sad what they did to the software and the people who used it.

CubeAce wrote on 5/2/2025, 4:33 AM

@Reyfox

I'm assuming then that should I have to rebuild my C: drive again or go to a fresh instal when I have to switch to Win 11 that I will lose the few HitFilm effects that I have.

Then again that type of shutdown clause with possible loss of function is in every software application agreement of every piece of modern software including those terms and conditions we agree to with Magix. Any 'lifetime' agreements in the digital domain mean nothing in reality.

A few (very few) companies in my limited experience have released their software to download and keep in its entirety. Mainly it has been vsts that I have come across.

Magix have offered discs in the past with the programs on. Maybe not a bad idea if they then also don't need online registration after.

@CubeAce I have no idea of what one would lose trying to install HF software on a new computer build. I've been on Win11 for some time before the Artlist sale. I can run Hitflim Pro 2021.3 any time I want. I would "guess" that if you have the installation files, you should be able to install them. But activation if necessary? I don't know.

While the Ignite Pro 5 appear in MMS2024, none of the effects work. Even in Davinci Resolve Studio 20 Beta, they no longer appear. I think they did in DR19.

I can still use Vegas Effects in VP21, but not VP22, where Vegas Post ended. I do have an option in VP21 to open a clip from the Vegas timeline into either Vegas Effects or even HFP, which has all the Ignite effects, Foundry Camera Tracker, Boris Title Studio and even Mocha Hitfilm, which does has a couple of features missing in Mocha Vegas, like the camera tracker.

Overall, I do think it was a tremendous loss to the editing community when FXHome sold to Artlist. There was talk that in order for HF to continue on into the future, it would require a full rewrite of the software. That I fully understand.

SP. wrote on 5/2/2025, 8:26 AM

@Reyfox To my understanding, Hitfilm had to be rewritten sooner than later because it was based on an older Open GL version which is deprecated on MacOS. And during that phase, AI video generation became accessible, which made it economically unfeasible to rewrite the software, so it was shut down.

Old installers of Hitfilm are available on archive.org if you no longer have them.

Reyfox wrote on 5/2/2025, 9:20 AM

@SP. all that info should have been "upfront" with the buyout by Artlist. Instead, they made a bunch of unfulfilled promises to the users. "Wait until you see what we have for Ignite!!!". Nothing. HFExpress, want to use the plugins you paid for going forward? Nope! You can't. Bring money to the table. They did manage to write into the software the ability to access Artlist to buy their products.

It was poor business practice by Artlist. Yes, the new Mac's can't use HFP. Ok.. understood. But what about the Windows people out there? They could have managed to keep going forward, albeit not at the pace FXHome would want. But then, I don't know the financials of the company before the sale, and how many people were paying for HFP/Ignite/Express plugins.

As for Magix selling plugins that can not be activated, another "fail" by them. This certain encourages confidence in the company, a company that can not even manage a user website.

SP. wrote on 5/2/2025, 2:37 PM

@Reyfox

all that info should have been "upfront" with the buyout by Artlist.

This wasn't true when Artlist took over FXHome. If I remember it correctly, this was insider talk on Reddit after the shutdown was announced, so nothing official and it cannot be proven to be true.

Basically, they were working on a Hitfilm successor and were absolutely surprised by services like Kling or Runway and decided it isn't worth it to pursue the old way of making software any longer.

CubeAce wrote on 5/2/2025, 2:48 PM

@SP. @Reyfox

I agree that both the website and manuals are sadly neglected and badly need attention.

It's a fine balancing act running a company, between developing and how fast to grow the amount of employees etc. Volatile customer pool and unpredictable sales can't help and I feel a reason the subscription model has come about in the software sector. That and the problem from ever present piracy and the need to try to protect one's work and provide an income for your employees can't be easy. So easy to become prey for company takeovers when things don't grow as predicted or desired.

@SP. yes, they knew going forward that there had to be a rewrite of the software. But because Runway, you decide to end everything? How about Runway doing the edits and effects? Nah... Kling will edit your videos? Nah. I don't buy it. Maybe they thought it was too costly to reprogram the software, yeah... but then shut down existing users? That's a sure way to make everyone happy.

As I wrote, they made a LOT of promises concerning Ignite Pro when "they" first took over. And that has nothing to do with AI or before Runway/Kling or whatever showed up. This was stated in the very beginning.

But that's the way the software ball bounces. I am not a fan of what happened.

Now, back to Magix selling plugins you can't activate.... wow.....
