Import WEBM format

Alexander-Gordon wrote on 10/4/2021, 3:13 PM

Hi there,

I am trying to evolve my content creation. Recently, the PS5 locked its video capture format in WEBM. My previous editing software did not recognize it at first and only played the sound. Shortly after, with no update, it recognized the format and displayed both audio and visual content of the WEBM file. After downloading and installing the Magix Movie Studio 18 and attempting to import WEBM format content, the editor does not recognize it at all. It doesn't play audio or visual. It doesnt even import while dragging. If importing is done through file, the search does not even see the WEBM content in the look up. Is this fixable ?

@Alexander-Gordon

Hi Alexander and welcome to the user to user forums.

WEBM was primarily designed for small websites to be able to host their own video streams without the need to pay royalties to the companies that normally charge for use of their software to allow such applications.

As such is is purely a codec used to post to a host site and not one for general editing. At least not yet. It is not a codec supported by any Magix editing product I'm aware of. There are players that support it as these people want their videos seen but no editors I'm aware of. I think it best to get in contact with the WEBM developers about this one. There is probably just a convertor out there rather than an editor.

Ray.
