Without knowing the source that created the dat file, you may have to use a 3rd party converter that can handle dat video files.
There are plenty available on the Internet - search for dat video file converter

Hi again John. I succeeded in converting the MP2-movie into a MPEG4-movie. Thank's a lot for helping me with this matter. Do You by coincidence know how to enhance or interpolate pixels within Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015 (MMEP2015). I need to "sharpen" some frames after applying digital zoom within my recent MMEP2015 project. I have utilized the "Section/Zoom" tool within the Effects / Movement effects window. Select the video clip(s) you have zoomed in on, then select Effects tab, Video effects, Sharpen.
Depending on how much you zoomed in, the sharpening may not succeed to get rid of the pixellation, which can result and is almost impossible to get fix.
I always apply sharpening to the whole timeline using s the Effects menu, Movie Effects setting, Sharpness tab. For a Full HD (1920 * 1080) export or burn I set a value of 45 - if you do this you may need to experiment with the value depending on your export resolution.
Do bear in mind that if you do this, you will need to reduce the amount of sharpening applied to a video clip on the timeline.
