Indicate objects used in project?

I am using Movie Edit Pro 17 to create a slideshow of pictures and videos.  I could swear that the program used to put a red box on the icon of each picture that I had already used in the project so that I wouldn't accidentally use the same picture twice.  It is not doing that for this current project and I can't seem to find a setting that would do it.  I previously used the photostory program and I know for a fact that does it, but I'm fairly certain that Pro 17 did as well.

Hi,

I confirm that MEP 17 does do as you describe, placing a small red square top left of each icon already used.

Did you try File > Settings > Reset program settings to deafult... ? (You will have to restore any non-default settings required.)

Also try opening a new movie with File > Manage movies > New and importing your photos there.

But I suspect this may have a cause outside MEP itself, so I'd try:

- examining the folder properties/attributes for any inadvertent change

- copying your photos to another Windows folder and trying that in MEP instead

Thanks Terry.  Here's what I figured out...If the pics are copied into the project folder it puts a small red square on the icon, but it doesn't seem to do it on files outside of the magix program.  Works either way because I want copies of all the photos in the project folder for future use anyway.  Thanks!!

Hi,

Glad you got it sorted. Your feedback is interesting, because I got the red icons in my test of MEP 17 yesterday regardless of their location.  The files should not need to be located in the MEP current project folder, so I'm puzzled about the behaviour you described.

Digressing, in practice I don't actually benefit from this useful feature. I usually don't use the media pane in MEP for photo and movie clip imports, but instead drag my files directly from their (XP) folders directly onto the timeline.
