Installation CD unreadable.

I am having trouble installing the Rescue Your Videotapes software from the CD supplied. The package has been purchased from Amazon and when I tried to install from the CD, my laptop (Windows 10) thought the CD was blank. The product was returned and a replacement arrived. I put the new CD in and got exactly the same result! Other CDs and DVDs play with no problem so I don't suspect the laptop or the CD drive. Has anyone else had this problem and what was done to rectify it? Any advice will be very welcome. Thanks.

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

First, please don't post the same question twice. Duplicating posts can create difficulties for other users wishing to offer help because they don't know to which thread they should post! In order to keep everything in one place I have closed your other post.

If you go to "My PC" and to your DVD drive, if you right-click its icon do you see an option to "Open"? What happens if you click on that option? You should also see an option to "Open Auto-play". What happens if you click on that? Finally, if you click "Properties" (at the bottom of that options screen) what does it show?

If all the above fail to allow you/Windows to see the disc, do you have an external USB CD/DVD writer or rewriter that you could plug into your computer and attempt to install the software from that?

Unfortunately, but perhaps not surprisingly because of the requirement to use the supplied USB convertor, I can find nowhere for you to be able to download the software.

Thank you, Jeff. Apologies, but I was not aware I had posted my question twice! It was certainly not intentional.

Unfortunately I cannot carry out your suggestion because my computer thinks it has a blank DVD in the drive so there is nothing there to open. I know the drive is not faulty because I can play other CDs and DVDs without a problem.

I have managed to find a way to download the software instead, and that is to create an account on the Magix website and register the software using the serial number printed on the DVD's envelope. Once that is completed, the option to download the software and user guide is made available. I have now done that and about to try it out. Wish me luck!
