I keep receiving "Could not access network location [WIX_DIR_COMMON_DOCUMENTS] MAGIX_Travel Maps\." I don't know how to fix this issue at all, nor could I find any viable solutions online.
It's possible you have an old copy of VPX and older versions of the travel maps are no longer able to be made to work as they no longer have access to the data to create the maps as far as I understand it.
There is another forum post somewhere on this forum about this.
Maybe someone else can remember the post or the precise details of why the older copies of travel maps no longer work.
What can I do to get a newer version? I paid $25 for this on the humble bundle website, do you think that has something to do with it? I doubt they would release an older version of VPX. Thank you.
I have the same version VPX11 from Humble Bundle but I have never downloaded or used the travel maps in VPX or my more up to date version of Movie Edit Pro Premium. I have no use for it. I wasn't aware the Humble Bundle versions came with any third party plugins although it does import my other plugins that came with various versions of MEP I have had in the past.
Could that be it? Did you have an older version of that plugin in the past that got transferred? It would be no good me checking as I would get the new version if I downloaded it.
Sorry I can't help further. Maybe another member will see this and give further advice.
[Edit] The current version of VPX is VPX 12. You may have seen the upgrade pop-up offers.
I've never even delved into any products from MAGIX ever, this is the first time. How can I find upgrade offers when the product hasn't even been installed? Is there somewhere I can find a proper installation version since it says the installation version is vpx11? This is ridiculous. I appreciate the help CubeAce.
edit: Okay so for whatever reason after when it tells me the installation failed, it added a shortcut to my desktop. I was just able to set up everything correctly. I don't know why it did this later. Sorry for wasting your time.
VPX 11 was the Humble Bundle offering. The lowest price you will ever see VPX 12 offered for is around $169 compared to its full price of $399. Even then the travel maps is not mentioned as being in the new version of VPX 12 whereas it is in the latest version of Movie Edit pro. I don't even know if it was offered in the original VPX 11.
As I said I got the Humble Bundle but didn't download the Travel maps.
Wait and see if anyone else can confirm what I suspect. I know others here do use it but which program it came with that they use I have no idea.
Travel Maps is not a third party program, it's from Magix. It replaces the older Travel Route Animation that always came as part of MEP Plus/Premium and VPX. I use it often; you should take a look at it and also look at my Travel Maps example on my YT channel. It's only one example with one map style. I often use the satellite mapping.
In MEP and VPX, it shows up under Edit, Wizards, Travel Route Animation, but it opens Travel Maps. It worked fine with VPX11.
I promise that when I make my first Indiana Jones movie I will download and use it 😂.
Of course I have looked at it. Played with it, and feel very indifferent towards it.
I think the fact I never realised Travel Maps was a Magix effect shows my level of interest in it.
I have no objection to others wanting to use it and I'm sure it has its uses for those that do.
There are plenty of effects and parts of VPX and MEP I will never see myself using. It doesn't mean someone else would not want to use it. Freedom of choice and all that.😉
. . . . Now now, we're not that different down here... are we?? . . .
Nope - 🙃
Have to admit it the best part being in NT was sleeping out under the stars seeing the night sky in full Technicolor, only saw one ship and it had landed (crashed) at a crazy angle on the roof of the 'tourist centre' .
I didn't actually go there. I did this for someone who wanted to see what could be done, or who couldn't do it, or something like that. I thought that it was a good example to post.
