Installation fails using downloaded program .exe file

So, I am trying to install on a Windows 7 Ultimate system using the MAGIX download. Running the downloaded setup program in administrator mode (also tried in restricted used mode) and the setup program starts to extract files, seems to get to 100% on the extraction and then closes down abruptly showing a spinning wheel of dashes just before it shuts down. Kind of like it started to think and then died.

The computer has 8gig of memory, i7 processor, 64 bit, Dell XPS Studio 8000 with up to date Win7 Ultimate. Program to install is Movie Edit Pro Plus.

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have.

@Richard-DuBose

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Exactly which version of MEP Plus are you trying to install? I assume the latest but it could be useful to be sure.

Did you check carefully the technical requirements of the installation of MEP Plus on this page? I have to say I can see nothing in your computer description that might suggest a problem but it is well-worth checking that your computer does meet the minimum specification.

Exactly which model i7 processor do you have? You don't mention any external GPU and hence, all video processing must take place on the CPU.

I know software from other manufacturers requires that Win 7 has Service Pack 1 installed. I assume yours has this?
