My Movie Edit Pro licence allows activation on up to 2 devices (I believe!). To date I've only ever installed and used it on 1 device (activation 2 in 'my products' currently says 'Not in Use'). I'd now like to install and use it on a second (new) device. So to do this, do I just need to login to my Magix account from the second device, download / run the installation software, and it will then automatically activate on the new device as well?

This does not work for me. I have tried to install on the second computer and it asks for serial number and my email and when I click on Activate and Register immediately online it brings back an error code -24 this is serial number is already activated. But it does not let me run it on the second device. And I'm using the same exact email address as it is registered under.

When you look in 'My Products' does it say you have more than 1 'Activations' - and at least 1 of them says 'not in use'?

After installing you only have to enter the same serial number and email address, the product will then be registered.
If you are trying to activate the same serial number in your account at magix.com this is not necessary, as @Paul-M13 has commented check the number of used activations in your account

Thanks John. I was using the correct serial number and email address. It kept giving that same message until about the 15th time I tried it finally took. My computer now shows in spot number 2 on my activations screen in my account. Not sure why it kept failing but all is good now.
Thanks Paul. It only had 1 computer in my activations and it showed number 2 as not being used. Not sure what the issue was but it finally took after 15 tries. I think I'm safe until the next time I have to activate :)
Richard seems to be sorted now, but one thing occured to me. If you bought the licence in, say 2019, and haven't paid to extend the update service beyond the first year, if you download on the second device today presumably it would download the latest version (which you wouldn't be licensed for). Or does it automatically download the version for which you're licensed?
The situation with regard to which "version" you would now receive if your Update Service is no longer current is somewhat confusing at the moment!
Hitherto, the situation always was that, without any extension to the Update Service, any reinstallation would revert to the version and build of your original purchase. However, it seems, from evidence presented by other users, that this may no longer be the case. In addition, of course, the Update Service is no longer offered since products are now available for one-off purchase (without updates, I believe) or "365" subscription (with updates and upgrades).
I will ask Magix about this!

That's interesting! Every time I launch the software, I get an infuriating pop-up urging me to download (and pay for!) the latest Update Service, which seems strange if it's no longer offered.
I wonder if this could be related to the problems @Richard-Lopez was having.
Will you let us know on here what Magix have to say on it?

Yes, I have asked the question and will report the answer, hopefully.
The Update Service will still be relevant to those products that have not yet migrated to the new 365/Subscription service, so will still be current for some users, as I understand it.
One, possible, additional "complication" for MEP users is that, officially as of now, the program has been renamed as Movie Studio! This announcement post provides the information.

I had received all 'updates' to date using the upgrade path that notifies me to new patches. If you mean when the new version MS 13 'supposedly' I can't ever remember that being an option within the upgrading process. That is like getting a new plugin on offer without renewing my subscription at that point. I have never had to reload MEP or VPX past its end of support period either so I don't know for certain if I would only get the patched version at the time of purchase or the last patch / update available at the programs 'end of life'.
My method now is just not to renew a subscription for a newer version of the program but wait until the price of buying it anew is just short of the upgrade price. That way the older version is still available to download on my account as a separate purchase.
There is no way I will ever go the Monthly subscription route unless all the additional goodies become royalty free and commercially usable. Then it may become a consideration at some future point.
