Installing Latest Update to an older version

Nick-Browne wrote on 1/31/2021, 1:11 PM

My installed version of Movie Editor Pro Premium is 19.0.2.58. I have just paid to get the latest update 20.0.1.73. However I cannot install it . I have tried about 10 times doing things in a different order. I just go round in circles! I wait a while for the download then click install now but nothing happens. I have tried with my current version open and closed. I have tried various restarts of my PC. It is driving me mad!

@Nick-Browne

Hi

Are you the local Administrator (only user) for the computer?

Does the Download Manager run and start downloading the main program?

If not check that your Antivirus is not blocking the Download Manager - the executable should be called:

movieeditpropremium2021_dlm_op4wd1.exe

If it is the main setup that is not running, again check your Antivirus - try disabling it to see if the program installer will run.

Hi.Thanks for the speedy reply. Yes, it is just me on my home PC. I assume the download manager is downloading the whole program. It takes a little time and says it is about 700mb. It then says ready to install but whatever I do it doesn't. I will try turning off the antivirus etc and report back.

It worked! Eventually. I turned off the Antivirus as suggested and tried again. When I clicked install there was quite a gap when I thought nothing was happening but then the install started. Weirdly I kept getting a message saying a copy of Magix was open and using a file that was needed. I had closed Magix before the install and as far as I was concerned it was not open. I had to click 'ignore' multiple times to finish the install. Whether this has stored up a problem for later I don't know. Thanks for your help. Nick

@Nick-Browne

Hi

Pleased to hear that you are now up and running.

. . . .  I had closed Magix before the install and as far as I was concerned it was not open.  . . . .

Occasionally the program does not shut down fully and has a process running in the background - as you got past it, it sounds like the process eventually stopped.
