Instrument appears not in My Instruments

AJM-Schakenbos wrote on 10/23/2020, 10:25 AM

After I installed MM29 the instrument Upright Bass, which I bought with an earlier version, does not appear in My Instuments. I get the option of downloading and installing every time I start MM. After downloading and installing (in the proces it says 'Reparing...') it stays in the 'shop' and when I click on the arrow to put it into my project nothing happens. In MM28 it is working allright. (I have 3 versions installed separately.)

I hope someone can help me out.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . which I bought with an earlier version . . . .

Did you activate Music Maker 2021 (v29.x.x.x) with the older versions serial number or purchase a new licence if so which variant Plus or Premium?

If you used the old serial number then you will not have the VST-Bridge plugin which is needed to work with 32 bit VSTs and Instruments - MMM 2021 is 64 bit program, all other earlier versions are 32 bit programs.

Note if you have to purchase a new (upgrade) licence, it is cheaper in the long run to get the Premium version.

Is the program up to date - the latest patch is v29.0.3.21 ?

Thank you for your reaction. I did purchase the Premium version with a new licence number. The program is up to date with the patch you mentioned. All my other VST instruments (14) are installed in My Instruments and are working good. Only the Upright Bass is behaving the way I described.

Hi

I have installed the Upright Bass and it does work correctly and is not 'lost' through multiple restarts/reboots, however, like many other instruments, it does still appear in the Download tab, despite being installed and working.

This has been reported to Magix, see the MMM2021 bug list, however please raise a Support ticket for this issue through here.

Unfortunately you may be one of the users who is seeing bug item 2 in full if the instrument is disappearing on restarting MMM 2021.

Hi,

I noticed that Upright Bass does not show correctly in the list of instruments (+ button in track header). See below.

It used to show like the others with an icon. It does show up under the Instruments tab correctly with an icon.

Is this your case?

I had purchased the instrument separately several years ago before the in-app Store started. I don't see it in the Downloads, but I have a whole slew of instruments there that are installed and working, so I ignore the Downloads list.

Both comments are missing just the point I think.

This is what I find when starting MM29.

This is what I see after downloading and installation.

It is not appearing between the installed instruments.

I can find it when I click More Instruments. The download arrow is gone.

When I click on the 'i' I see this.

When I click 'instrument invoegen' (add to arranger) nothing happens.

When I start MM28 there is no problem at all.

I hope this helps to understand the issue.

Hi John and John,

I could live with the fact that it doesn't appear where it is supposed to. Only where it appears it isn't working! And that's something I can't live with.

If not do so.

Backing up a bit, did you activate the old serial number from when you purchased Upright Bass in MMM29? If not, then do so. Activate all serial numbers from previous versions.

Go to Program Settings and click on Cleanup Store. Music Maker will restart and you will have to log in manually.

Then check the status of the Instruments under the Instruments tab, and under Downloads. If Upright Bass isn't under Instruments, then check under Downloads and download and install it again.

After that, I'm out of ideas.

@johnebaker

I find it strange that you have several instruments with no icons, and that both of us have Upright Bass showing up under the miscellaneous (VST) instruments part. Have you raised this issue with Magix?

Hi John

. . . . Have you raised this issue with Magix? . . . .

Not yet - I have a small issue with some 3rd party instruments installed as 32 and 64 bit versions not showing the instrument image on tiles in the Instruments tab which may be connected to the display issue in the track headers.

I managed to do the following steps which might be helpful to analyse the problem.

Start MM29. As usual I find Upright Bass under Downloads. I download the file but not install it.

I start the installation file from the download folder. When the installation starts I have the option to delete Vita Upright Bass. I take that option. The instrument is removed.

Next I start MM28. I find Upright Bass not under the Instruments tab anymore. It is under the download tab. From there I download and install Upright Bass. The whole process goes smoothly and in the end I see the icon 'fly' to Instruments and there it is! And it works!

When I remove it again and start MM29 the instrument is under the download tab. When I download and install from there the process seems to go fine, but after it finished there is no Upright Bass under the Instruments tab. And the situation is as described above in my earlier comment.

Each time I start MM29 again Upright Bass is under Downloads. When I download and install it at this point, the process is Repairing Vita Upright Bass. When the progress indicator is at 15% the process stops. And again we are back to the start.

@browj2 I did activate with older serial numbers, but MM says I have all the products going with that number. The Cleanup Store option isn't working either.

AJM-Schakenbos wrote on 10/31/2020, 2:49 PM

I think the problem is just a problem between MM29 and Upright Bass (64 bit). Is there a separate installation pack for Upright Bass (64-bit)?

I installed a few new instruments and this went perfectly well. They automaticly appeared in the older versions as well.

Upright Bass (32-bit) is doing well in MM28. So there is only something wrong with Upright Bass (64-bit) is my conclusion. Is there a solution?
